Thank you that gives me hope. Did your vet say his poop would be forever contaminated(like could pass to other dogs)?

I am so sorry that you are going through this ordeal, Amber. For those who don't know, I also got a puppy from this breeder, and thankfully he's fine. I will have the vet check the poop again when I bring him in for his rabies shot, just to make sure.

After reading about giardia, it seems that the mother had it and passed it on to the puppies in her litter. This would explain why other puppies don't have it. I am sure that your little girl will be ok, Amber. Just hang in there and get some anti-bacterial soap in the meantime to make sure that you don't accidentally infect your babies (the two-legged ones :) ). I think it's also a good idea to get one of those soap-less antibacterial hand creams/whipes.

Please keep us updated on this.

Thank you i am so glad your baby didn't have it! I'm going to email Reda and ask her if the other puppies from this litter have it. i wash, wash ,wash lol i'm so paranoid lol.

well i called the vet today and he is calling me back when he gets in the office i will post what he says a little later

No, my vet never mentioned flare ups or anything of the kind. Just told me I had to be extra careful in cleaning up after him until it was cleared up. She did say that this wasn't uncommon and told me about streams and creeeks and the like and to always be careful of not letting him drink out of those or any standing water. She did say it was highly contagious for other dogs, but studies were unclear wether dogs passed it to humans, but just to be on the safe side to always wash our hands thoroughally. We didn't have other dogs at the time, so we didn't have as difficult a time as your having.

Amber so very sorry! but everything will be great she will be able to be out and about in no time then peeka & boo & daisy will be playing in no time have faith ok hang in there we love you and the puppy's :) :yorkiesar

After they test negative you don't have to worry about it. I wouldn't pick it up frozen either. I think it's not necessary. I have a poop eater, my Mi-Ki and he can't eat nor is attracted to frozen poop, no scent. Since I have had 3 dogs arrive with Giardia over a 6 year period, I consider it normal and expect it. However, none ever had any symptoms which is better then a full blown messy Giardia infestation and they never got it again.
Everything will be alright.

Thank you so much it really makes me feel so much better i have been so stressed about it. i called my vet office earlier and one of the staff asked a vet about itmy vet wasn't in yet and i wanted to get her poop tested in a week they told me i should wait a month before doing another sample. My vet wasn't in yet so i am waiting for him to call me back. have you heard of this stuff the put her on it's Praz+Pyrant+Feba? How long did you wait after the meds to retest/ Thank you again so much!!

Ok i just got off the phone with the vet and he said not all dogs will be carries some does carry it some don't. i told him how i don't pick up the poop in my yard and he said i need to change my way of thinking he said whether it's in you yard or not you should pick it up because diesease is so easily spread that way whether a dog is infected or not. He also told me that i should let her out of the play pen and be social so i will lol:thumbup: :D (no prob with that) he also said i have to wait a month to do another stool sample so i have a shot appt for her on the 1st of feb and her and Peeka will have their poop tested then. Thank you all for your support in this. I am so happy to hear this news that it is curable.

OMG, you've had a rough couple days:( So glad that others on here were able to give you advice and encouragement. And yaaay - Daisy is out of quarantine:) You'll get through this soon and be able to help others when they get hit with it - so hang in there!

I just now read this thread. I'm glad it is sounding more encouraging for you. I know how news like that can just seem so overwheliming. I'm glad the others on here were able to help you put things in perspective.

I had no idea this was so common. We all need to be more careful about community dog areas such as dog parks and interstate rest areas.

As for the frozen poop. I have an ice scraper to loosen it if it freezes down too quickly. How about using as baggy to pick it up as soon as she goes, turn the bag inside out then scoop her up and go back inside.

I hope all test are clear.

Me to! After reading that it wasn't. I'm glad your getting Daisy out of her pen. Like I said after a few days on meds Misha & Piper were playing. I just picked up the poo so Misha couldn't get by it. If anyone was going to get it, it would have been me. Piper was full of poo when I got her home from the airport. I put her right in the tub & gave her a bath. I had it all over me. I never caught it.

Amber I just caught this thread! I am so sorry you are going through this sweetie! It looks like things are getting better! I don't have any experience with it, but I hope and pray Daisy is better soon.
