Help? Has anyone out there had to collect a urine sample from a puppy? I have to get one for an appt on Wed. Copper has started drinking a lot of water and urinating pretty excessively on his pad. The vet said to bring in a sample so he could run some tests on it. Any ideas would be appreciated. |
Its easy!:) Take a pee pad and turn it upside down so that the plastic surface is facing upwards;) When your baby pees it wont be absorbed and you have a puddle to collect:) You just pick up the pad carefully, fold it a little and pour the pee into the sample cup..there you have your sample:) |
I'm pretty certain Trace could provide a sample.....course I'd have to use a turkey baster to get it up :D |
Doncha love it? I had to get a spec from one of my adut females and I chased her around with a small bowl in one hand and a cup with a longer handle..Every time she assumed the position I stuck one under her and she would not pee! That poor thing held it forever. So, I took a new white plastic bag and put Whisper in a crate with water and the plastic on the floor. She finally squeezed out a little and I had to draw it up with a 3 ml syringe. I threatened my vet with bodily harm if ever they told me to do that again.. |
Thanks!!!! Quote:
You are so smart! How in the world did you think of that! I applaude you! I would have never thought of that. :animal-sm |
I got the idea after laying the pad upside down by accident when she was little:) A few months ago I needed a sample and I thought of what happened back then and it worked:) You get a big sample too which is great;) |
