Has anyone use Petsmart classes for their yorkie before? i'm thinking of taking my 3 to petsmart for training...cosmo needs a serious attitude adjustment, minnie can't control herself when the bell rings, and lillian is soo disobeidient. So if anyone could give me some information about it..thanks |
Chloe and I are enrolled in our local Petsmarts puppy school. We love it. But it all depends on the particular trainer there. We happen to have a really good one. Go to your local store and watch during the training sessions. Maybe before and /or after, you can talk to some of the owners on how they feel about the trainer. good luck :) |
Do check it out before you enroll (like Misty said, watch some classes), and look for positive training methods (no leash jerking/hanging, forcing the dog to comply, alpha rolls, etc.). I took Missie years ago and wasn't impressed with some of the training. But it was good for socialization, and Missie did learn commands with distractions, which was really good. I recommend it (if it's positive based) for socialization if nothing else. Plus our Yorkies are so smart, they tend to stay ahead of the class which gives bragging rights. ;) Just kidding! :D |

Layla and i went last fall for beginner and we had the bset trainer.. like it has been said already.. it is all about the trainer.. so go watch a few different sessions (there is usually more than one trainer and they just divide the classes up) and see which one you like... we love our trainer so much we start Intermediate next weekend!!! |
