2 Quick Questions Ok 1st one is how long after applying Frontline PLUS can i give her a bath. I know that its water proof but does it need a certain amount of time to absorb? 1snd question: I just tried cutting Chewys nails for the first time myself. It was 10 times harder than i thought and i dont know if ill be doing it myself again. I was taking off such tiny peices and she was whinning like crazyyyyy. She sounded like an infant being tortured. My vet said that it doesnt hurt her and she is just being spoiled. But i am really scarred that it is hurting her!! How do you guys do it? In the summer i figure we'll take regular walks so i wont need to cut them but we dont really go out much now...as it is 30 degrees right now and really windy. |
I'm really no help but I usually apply it a day or two after a bath. As for the nails I can't do it so I take him to the groomers. He doesn't go out much especially in this weather! I'm in NJ and it IS sooooooooo cold and windy today! |
I read that you have to wait at least 24 hours after a bath to apply & you have to wait 3 days after application to give a bath. It works w/ the oils on the skin. Hope this helps |
Thanks I figured that even though its water proof i still had to wait a certain number of days. And as for the nails i will also probably start going to the groomers from now on. I couldnt sleep last night because i kept hearing her screaming! Shes so spoiled, i dont even know how it got this bad. Well ye i do lol!!! But she really isnt letting me do any type of grooming to her....cant brush her teeth, clean her ears, clip her nails. But we have gotten into the habit of a bath a week. Does anyone else have this much trouble with their baby's or should i be more strict with her? |

good luck hon!! |
I go with the holistic approach in keeping fleas off, not chemicals. As for the nails, you can keep them short by just filing them with a really rought emery board once a week.;) |
Filing sounds good...do they have special fillers for dogs or a regular one will work? Thanks everyone for your help |
I buy the grey/black heavy duty ones that come two to a package at Wal-Mart. Cheap, cheap.:p |
frontline works best if applied 48 hours before or after a bath because it works with the oils in their skin. As for the nail trims, i know this answer is gonna suck for you but you have to keep doing what your doing to get her used to it. If she's gonna complain for you, she's gonna complain for the groomer/vet as well. She's trying to get her way and its working. What you can do to get her used to it is play with her feet ALOT when your both lying down or sitting on the couch at night. get her used to her feet being handled. Then bring the clipers in to the scene. At fist get her used to the sight of them next to her feet. Then get her use to the noise it makes by clipping a toothpick or something like that. Next just put it on her nail and apply slight pressure but don't cut. she's gonna put up a fight and she's gonna scream, but trust me, your not hurting her at all. even if you cut the quick of her nail it doesn't hurt very much if at all. its more of a shock to them then anything. just keep at it and eventually she'll get used to it. this will make it easier on you, the groomer, and the vet, and they'll thank you for it. |
