beneful Is this a pretty good food? My dogs all 3 love it and they are picky. I'm just wondering if it's good enough for them. Anyone have any comments on it? |
nope, no good... lexi was on that food and she was all itchy from it. lots of corn in it...not one of the best foods...sorry |
I think you can buy beneful at the grocery. I was told all the foods there were no good. To only buy from a pet store & to read the ingredience first. Corn in food causes allergies to dogs. Lots of itching. |
Thanks. I had read about the corn in a review. My dogs don't itch but I will definitely try something different just in case. |
Go online & write some of the companies for free samples. That way your not buying alot of bags they don't like to eat. I did that. I ended up with Pro Pac lamb & rice. It's a family owned business & they seem to eat it. They are so finicky. Also check the health & Diet section here on other foods that are good. It's real helpful |
When I first got Rocco his previous owner feed him beneful too.He had all these meds from the vet for allergies ,special skin shampoo. I switched his food to innova and no more scratching. I have read that alot of vets are clueless about foods. |
When that dog food first came out I bought it for my boys and what a mistake that was. About a month of them eating that food, Scooter broke out with such bad skin problems that I took him to the vet on 3 separate times to find out what was going on. I finally got tired of the vets giving him anibiotics each time only for the skin lesions to break out again. I finally cleared him up 100% once I took him off the Beneful food and started cooking meals for them. His skin is totally clear and no more itchys. |
Omg....maybe That Is What Is Wrong W My Dogs. I Don't Feed Them That But Iams...i Need A Better Dog Food |
definetly, i would say 1 or 2 weeks after i stopped the beneful with lexi, she was all better. and i also bought oatmeal shampoo and conditioner. with that food gone and the oatmeal, shes perfect now.. no itching at all, no scratching at all... shes comfortable now and so am i |
Beneful Mine love it also..but it is not a quality food for Yorks...I was visiting a friend who gives it to her dogs and mine cleaned out the bowl. LOL |
Mine both love it too. And no its not a very good quality food for them, But mine are very picky eaters. I have went to different stores driving hours to get a better food, Chicken soup being one of them, And neither of mine would eat any of them. So it all went out to the stray cats. lol Beneful is the only kind I have found that they like. So I give it to them, but add chicken and rice and cottage cheese every few days. |
do a google search and type in dog food analysis and click on review of kibble rated from 1-6 stars, 6 being the best most of them are for agility dogs to much protein, science diet, iams, eukanuba, pro plan, bil jac and a bunch of others are 1 star. timberwolf, innovam canidaie, solid gold are 4-5 stars |
My husband started buying beneful for our golden retriever about 5 months ago and Jake loved it. My cats love it, and my yorkie (i have had her 7 weeks) loves it, and my new lab puppy loves it. Everytime the door is open my yorkie runs out of the house straight to the place I feed Jake and the lab puppy that I have had for 2 weeks trys to eat it too. My husband says "see it must be good if they all like it", I told him that everyone loves McDonalds too but its not good for us. Anyway....my yorkie puppy and lab puppy both eat wellness. Jake does love the beneful and he has not had any problems on it-no itching, but I give him the missing link too. |
I would just go into some of your local pet/feed stores and ask for samples. I didn't realise they had dog food samples and when looking for a new food for my yorkie, the pet stores would give them to me to try. I would try a few different stores as they all carry different brands. The last pet store loaded me up with a large variety of samples. If Bailey doesn't like it, I throw it outside to feed the squirels and birds. They love it!:p |
