Remi and his butt Something happened, he was very interested in his butt yesterday, he was sniffing it and licking it from time to time. Wouldnt stop. I walked him today and he did his things, I think he is ok now. I couldnt walk him yesterday cause it was too cold. IS this a problem of some sort? I read something about glands. How do I know? Thanks |

Yes, that is true. I don't know why they find butts so fascinating. If he continues to do it, you might want to have it checked out by your vet, just to rule out gland problems or worms. |
I agree with all the advise you've been given. |
i wondered this same thing only Troy seems to be showing me her booty. everytime she greets me she turns her booty to me as she looks behind her to see if i'm gonna touch it. whats that about? |
Thanks, well the problem went away after he did #2 outside. SO I wonder if he just wanted to take a dump and couldnt do it at home. |

nope shes not. shes almost 13 weeks... how old are they when they get their first heat? |
There are anal glands on each side of the rectom. If you push in just a bit and are able to feel like a pea size round lump, then the anal glands are full and need to be expressed. This is a routine thing for a groomer to do, so if you do take your dog to a groomer, let her/him show you how to express them. Please, if you have never done this, don't do it without proper training or you could injur your baby. Another thing that can cause your baby to have *itchy-butt* is those little hairs that poke into them after a hair cut when they are really short. Don't cut that hair real short because of this problem. It's best to leave it longer and just take a cotton ball with warm soapy water to clean if needed. |
