I just can't... ...keep Cali locked up anymore. She broke her leg on December 22. She's been in a cast and basically laying down, kept in her crate to keep her from moving too much. She is jumping so much everyday to get out of that cage that she had to be doing even more damage to the leg than if I just let her run so................today sista Cali got to run!!! :woof: I am sorry. I let her have a good 15 minutes of open free running. And she darted around this house like crazy!! Since we were both about to the end of the rope with all the restraints, I think she's a much happier girl tonight. Now.......I hope I haven't kept her leg from healing. I know I wasn't supposed to let her go like that but it sure was nice to see my baby acting like a baby! |
Oh I bet she was so happy. Hopefully she wouldn't over do it and she will be none the worse. |
I know it must be so hard to keep her pinned up day after day. But its really a must, she needs to heal. I hope she heals soon, poor baby. |

legs I do not know how bad the break is..but I have had a few with broken legs, two needed surgery for pins..never penned them up..the cast was solid and all the legs healed well... |
I think that a *little* exercise daily would be good for healing, maybe some easy-paced walking on a leash. Ask the vet about that, it can't be good for her to just lie there day after day, either physically or emotionally:( I think that these little ones tend to heal very quickly due to their high metabolisms, but that's just my opinion, I'm not a vet or anything:laugh: But now that I think about it, my girlfriend in HS had a boyfriend that crashed his motorcycle and had to have pins and plates and screws:eek: put in his leg. I remember that he was only laid up for a couple of weeks, then he was made by his doctor to get up and about with crutches, a few times a day. Gentle movements help encourage healing:thumbup: It's probably harder with a doggie, since they walk on all fours, but POOR baby and you, it must be so hard to keep her in that crate:cry: |
