can yorkies eat yogurt since i give Sassy dry dog food i was thinking about givng her a spoonful of yogurt wnd put her missing link in it is this a good or bad idea and is this the correct amount. She is 4 months old and weighs 3lb 6ozs. I assume you should give them no fat plain. |
Yes -- I give mine yogurt occasionally, but they like cottage cheese better. It does not need to be low fat unless you are trying to get them to lose weight. That is a great way to give the Missing Link. I just bought some myself. I am going to start mine on 1/4 teaspoon a day for 2 weeks and then move to 1/2 teaspoon. Mine are very small and I am not sure about going to the full teaspoon -- will have to see how it goes. |
Yoqurt is good for their digestive system. Plain is probably the best to give but I have given mine some with fruit in it and vanilla too. The amount you are giving sounds fine |
Yogurt is good for them . . . I give them the yogurt drops once a day. I do add cottage cheese to their morning meals - about 1 T. |
Yes yogurt is good for them, I give small amounts to my Yorkies and egg, Cottage cheese, Boiled chicken and rice. Along with their reg dry food. |

Gracie gets a bedtime snack of Yoplait regular vanilla yogurt. She goes crazy over it, and it really prevents diarrhea. One little carton lasts us 3-4 days. I give her 1/4-1/3. Just don't give your baby yogurt with artificial sweetener. |

Mine get the same. I mix veg with the chicken/rice, but they leave the kibble one side  |
My girls get 1/2 teaspoon of plain yogurt every other day.....and it has helped alot with Magic's tummy issues. They both look forward to their "treat"! |
Yogurt is excellent, just make sure it says live culture. If you buy the vanilla or plain, you can even add a few strawberrys or blueberrys to it. Cottage cheese is also good. If you have never given these things to your dog, then I suggest just try one thing at a time for a few day just in case it has an allergy to it. |
2 Attachment(s) DH eats a lot of yogurt and he just throws the container down when he is done and lets the dogs lick it. here is maggie enjoying licking the bottom of one :) |
Thanks for your replies I gave her some and she off course loved it. It was an easy way to get her missing link into her |
Thanks for the info - Max would love yogurt and he's getting pickier and pickier. He doesn't eat more than 2 or 3 bites of breakfast. I read somewhere they're not supposed to have blueberries. Is that true, because if not, they're so healthy in general. (They're $3.99 for a small box in NYC in thre winter!) Judy |
Sissy gets yogurt every day for breakfast. She wouldn't touch plain though. She gets the Danon Activia Vanilla, 1/4 of a container with her missing link mixed in. You'll need to start very slowly with the missing link and at under 4 lbs, the most they should get is 1/4 tsp daily. Start with 1/8 or less and then gradually increase. Good luck!! P.S. Don't ever use low-fat yogurt if it has artificial sweetner in it..... |
