Pee Breaks?? I was wondering if anyone knew about dogs not being let out during the day.. My Yorkie is 1 yrs old and home alone about 8-9 hrs a day dependind on the day..my husband recently changed careers and he's not able to be home as much during the day..He is in a cage during the day and he's been caged before for that long and he has never gone 1 or 2 in his cage while in there, he always waits until he can go outside..Is this okay for a dog if he's been doing it and never any problems yet? |
I leave mine out. Dusty has his own room so at night i leave the door open on his crate and he uses a pee pad. He does really well with this. He has a very small bladder so he needs to go every couple of hours. |
Wow, that seems like way too long to be in a cage. Can't you put him with an open cage inside an x-pen or bathroom with food, water, and pee pad. Dogs will often hold it for extremely long periods because the instinct to not litter their bed is so strong, but they are suffering. Think of how you feel when you have to hold it. Nancy |
No dog should be left in a crate for very long. Holding the urine that long will soon lead to problems, and not having water for that long is just terrible. Couldn't you just put up baby gates in a room that isn't carpeted and then lay out wee-wee pad, toys, water and Kong? |
