Riley's getting nuetered tomorrow. I'm scared!!!! Hi guys, So Riley is finally getting nuetered tomorrow. It's long overdue. Well, not that long. He's 11-months old. I finally realized that it's the best thing to do. But, I can't help feeling really nervous about it. I hope he's okay being under. I'm gonna see if they'll clean his teeth tomorrow, too, so I won't have to have him put under again. I took the next few days off work so I can keep an eye on him. I know it's a normal procedure, but he's my baby and I'm a worry-wart. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks!! :aimeeyork |
Sending hugs, :ghug: Riley will be just fine. It is usually harder on Mom's waiting for the phone call saying that everything is ok. :) Just a little "goofy juice" and a quick snip snip and Mr. Riley will be a changed man. |
Prayers for your baby. I haven't been thru it myself but I'm sure everything will be just fine. Keep us updated.:) |
It's OK to be worried! Riley's going to do great. We're sending you our prayers & speedy recovery wishes. :hearts6: CJ |
I know how you feel, I went through that some months ago. But try not to worry too much, I'm sure he'll be fine. I'll pray for his surgery and for a super fast recovery. |
Prayers for Riley coming your way. I know how you feel. When they took my girls out of my arms, I started crying. My hubby had to take the day off of work. I was a mess. All turned out well, but I know all surgeries have a risk. Keep us up to date on his recovery... |
Sending positive thoughts your way. Hope Riley has an easy time, and does well. Both my little ones did fine with their neutering/baby teeth extractions. Keep us posted on how he does. |
Thoughts and prayers headed out for your Riley:) He's going to be fine, Momma, but I know you can't help but worry:( Stay busy today!! |
Sending warm thoughts and wishes your way for Riley's speedy recovery. Trust me, he'll be fine. When my baby came home after being neutered, he was back to his normal wild self by the next day. The vet said he shouldn't jump with his stitches. Well, so much for that because he had so much energy.:) |
Aww...thanks guys for all your posts. I just got home from dropping him off at the vet. She could tell I was nervous. I asked a million questions. I made sure they're gonna do a blood panel first to make sure he'll react okay to the anestisia. They're gonna check out his teeth and trim his nails, too. She told me that they will give him an IV and gas. I stated my concerns. I've read on here before that IV's could be too much for little yorkies. She tried to reassure me that there will always be at least two techs with him and that the IV catheder will be helpful if they need to give him a certain medicine. He should be ready by 3 p.m. I have the next several days off so expect updates from me. Thanks for all your concern, Christy:aimeeyork |
Christy: I know how you feel. I felt the same way when I handed Rudy over to the vet tec when he got neutered. It is a stressfull time. I'm sure he will be fine. Rudy was really out of it all that lst night, just wanting to lay around. It was sorta nice. ;) The next day, you wouldn't have known anything happened to him. He's a big boy Yorkie though. Sending you and Riley warm wishes and for a speedy recovery for Riley. :) Rudy:aimeeyork & his mom (Dawn) |
I'm sure he will be ok...Just make sure they do the gas and have presurgery blood work done. Maddie had it done and she was right at 3lbs. She came out great. Was really sore for a few days. Now on the 26th she had to go back under for 2 teeth removed. I'm scared too!!! |
I am sure everything will be just fine! I am waiting til Bobbi turns a little bit older too. |
Well, today at the vet was terrible. I made sure they did a blood panel first and as it turns out Riley has an abnormal enzyme in his liver. My worst nightmare, right? They postponed the surgery because we gotta make sure his liver is okay first. The vet said it could either be a liver shunt. Please pray that it's not. If it is he'll have to get a biopsy and an invasive surgery. Or it could be micro-nuero displacia. If it's that then there's nothing we can do about it. He said MOST dogs can lead a normal, healthy life. But, it's not certain. Or he said it could just be an infection, maybe somthing toxic that he ate. I hope that's all it is. I know yorkies are prone to liver shunts, but you never think it'll happen to your baby. The vet said he doesn't think it is one because he would've shown signs like vomiting, diarhea and starring at the wall. I'm so worried. He said he'd call me at the earliest tomorrow and at the latest by Friday. I'm gonna have a knot in my stomach until then...and until I know he'll be okay. For all of those who haven't had your dog nuetered yet, YOU MUST GET A BLOOD PANEL FIRST!!!!! If I hadn't and he had went under anestesia his liver could have failed. Keep Riley in your prayers please. :( |
Don\'t panic just yet. Have the Full Blood Panel. A change in diet, fasting, are only two of many things that can make the liver enzyme leves a bit high. It sounds like you have a GEM of a vet. Don\'t forget to give him/her a hug. |
