New B looking for advise I am new to YT...I have had yorkie's my entire life. My present baby has been with me for 8 years. My husband came into her life when she was 5 and he just loves her more than me! She has been the best dog, pottey trainned since she was a puppy, I have never had any issues with her. We call her a "diva dog" because she sometimes has an attitude, but she loves us as much as we love her. We are a little concerned because I am 7 months pregnant and she has been pee peeing on the carpet the last few weeks. This weekend, I saw that she threw up in the baby room! We have made every effort to make her apart of the new baby...let her in the room, smell the bedding, play on the floor of the baby room...She has always been the type to sit on the back of the couch until you return, but never peeing on the floor? We are also thinking maybe she is getting older and accidents happen? Her diet has not changed, she is still that fun loving yorkie she always has been...we just want to make sure she does not feel left out in anyway. Any suggestions? |
Welcome and congratulations, here's to a healthy baby. You should get a lot of info on here. Maybe she's having bladder problems and may need a trip to the vet. Let's see what other's who have had similiar situations say. Good luck! |
At 8 years old , she should be checked twice a year by your vet . |

My vet always says see you next year, but she is in good health and yearly her visits are for her shots. I also wanted to ask anyone about Vitamins for older dogs? I am just trying to keep her healthy! My vet just did not act to excited when I asked last visit? |

I would take her to the vet and have her checked out for UTI. |
Welcome:D! Congrats on your upcoming birth, I hope that all goes smoothly and your baby is healthy as can be:thumbup: I second the suggestion for a vet visit to rule out any physical cause for the accidents. It sounds to me like you've been doing everything right:confused: She readily accepted your husband, so in theory she would also accept the baby. That's why I'm leaning toward a bladder/kidney issue. Gosh, I hope you can figure it all out, hopefully someone here will have better advice for you. Good luck and keep us posted. Oh, and we LOVE pictures here, so feel free to post lots of pics of your girl:) |
:yorkietal WELCOME AND CONGRATULATIONS :yorkietal I agree with the excellent advice already given. It would be a good thing to make an appointment with the vet for a good ole checkup. She knows that something exciting is happening with all of the preparations for your new baby. She is probably feeling a bit insecure. Give her some extra lovin' and try to reassure her that she is still your Diva Dog! |
