agressive Chloe is about 4 1/2 months old right now, we had her since she was 9 weeks old. She is about 3-5 lbs and she is constantly attacking my 12 lb yorkie. She will growl and bark and bit him until he has to jump up in my lap to get away from her. She doesn't do this to the cats or us, just to him. I don't know if shes just playing with him or what but when she growls she sounds serious. He wont hurt her back he just gets in my lap where she cant reach him. But.. when shes ready to take a nap she will lay by him and sleep. Any one have any suggestions on how to stop her aggressive behavior toward him? |
No idea on how to handle the aggression but sounds like she is trying to be the alpha of your other dog. |
I really don't think she is aggressive , she is making her place with the other one . If she was aggressive , she wouldn't sleep with him but threw him out of the place and sleep alone . When I go to my friend's apartment with Jade , she let poor Cassius knows she is there . Lol.....she thinks she can rule the world . |
I agree that she is absolutely being alpha. To my knowledge, you can't stop that. Once she has proven who is top dog, her agressiveness should ease up. Although she will always make sure he knows who the boss is. |
Sorry for the second post. Wasn't quite done when I submitted my reply. Anyway, you can be alpha and should be alpha. There are tons of good books with experts telling you how to do this. I do think if you started being alpha it would help. But she is still going to think she is second in the pecking order. |
You need to be alpha After my one yorkie returned frm the hospital following an overdose of my daughters meds, he became very aggressive. I watched and read a lot of stufff and this is what worked for me. I always was the first one in and out of the door when we went for walks. Always make the dog walk either alongside or behind you. Sit on the floor with your pup and place it on its back, keep it there, rubbing it if necessary, until you decide to let it up. I know it sounds silly, but this worked with my Benni. He had gotten terribly aggressive following his OD. Not aggressive any longer, he knows that I am the top dog. |
if you have an alpha dog in the house there is a product you can buy "Bach flower essence" I have not used it but I do know of a couple breeders that use the rescue remedy ... these flower essences are used singly or in combination (e.g., Rescue Remedy) to treat various behavior problems including anxiety, or when the animal's mental condition needs to be changed. The essences are generally given by placing several drops of the essence into the drinking water http://www.nelsonbach.com/BFE_for_pets.html |
I'm have the same thing happening with my Sweetie. I'm visiting my mom and she has a year and half old Yorkie. Sweetie is 8 months and wants to play hard most of the time. They do, both, make a lot of noice when they play. Mom's Yorkie does not want to play all the time so she will come to your lap to get away from Sweetie. Sweetie is full of spuck! |
Magic acts like this towards Sailor...we usually let them play like that unless that it gets out of control and then we spray her with the spray bottle and tell her "be nice"...for the most part this works, although sometimes she will continue and we have to pick them up and separate them...I am pretty sure they would never hurt each other, but I don't want to take that chance!!! |
