how can you tell? I'm trying to look for another vet...How can you tell if he's a good one or not? And does most veterinary clip the nails of our pet or just groomers does that? Because last time my vet doesn't even know that my Psalm has an ear infection, he just looks at it not even with that thing you use to look inside the ear, he just flips his ear and tell me that everything's fine! jeezz! |
My vet will clip nails if you ask, but generally the groomer does it. He really doesn't do it that well anyhow. He should have looked in the ear although it's often easy to tell from the leather if they have something going on. I just asked all my friends with pets where they took their babies and made my decision based on that, his prices, available equipment, and his personality with my pets after I met him for the first time. |
After a couple of horrible experiences with vets, including unneccesarily losing my Starr, I found a new vet. This is what I did. Go to YTCA.org and find the breeder closest to you. Call them up and ask them what vet they use. If you can't find a breeder close enough, look on the AKC website for a breeder near you of ANY toy breed dogs. Since these little ones can go downhill so quickly due to their tiny size, it's very important that a vet have a good knowledge of toy breeds and diagnosis of illnesses. You may even have to visit with a few vets before you find the right one, and that is best done BEFORE you need them for something urgent. Good luck with your search:)! Maybe someone on here will have a great vet and live near you, ya never know. |

I agree personal reference is best and even then a visit will usually tell most of what you need to know. Gook Luck!!:) |

Most vet's and groomers do trim nails. I do my own:aimeeyork . I have trained my 3 to lay on their backs on the couch and be still while I trim away. Maggie was 2 when she came and it didn't take her long to learn it. Good Questions. |
Thanks for your advices! I have my baby scheduled for tomorrow...with a new one, hopefully it turns out ok....wish him luck!!! |
