Losing teeth I have a 3 month old yorkie DEGA. When will he start losing his teeth. And will it be painful for him.. Thanks Stephanie :animal-pa |
I can't tell you exactly when he will loose his teeth , I have little nylabones for mine because when they start , It can be a little painful . |
Hi there is a thread here that says that supposedly after six months they start loosing their teeth. Hope this helps! |
Do Yorkies lose all their teeth and get a whole new set? I have not ever had to worry about this before with my big dogs. |
Yes , they loose their baby teeth and have adult teeth . |
OMG my yorkie/poo Kelsey just lost 2 front bottom baby teeth! Im SOOOO excited for her! haha. Im such a crazy mom! I was clapping and giving her kisses when I found them missing..im such a weirdo! I just wanted to share my happiness with all of you! She is 5 1/2 months and hasn't lost any teeth until now so i was beginning to worry! I tried to take a picture of her mouth but the little wiggle worm wont let me! :p |
Max is 7 months old & has lost all his baby teeth except for the 4 big chompers! |
Avery is exactly five months old and has lost four teeth on the bottom and one on top! He looks like Gabby Hayes! I wish he'd let me look better, but his permanent teeth are already coming in. |
Thanks everybody for all the help.. -Stephanie |
Oscar, my six month old just finished most of his teething. He lost his last three baby teeth in the last day. He does have double canines on the bottom though. They don't affect his bite, and he doesn't seem to mind, but they sure do look funny! |
Kelsey, I acted the same way! I've been so envious of others who have found teeth. Now we have 2. A single point and another 3-pronger. Wish I had a good yorkie anatomy book to look them up. It was so funny to see Bodhi tossing one around last night like he plays with his kibble. Does anyone know how to clean these things so they don't grow mold in the scrapbook? Should I use the vinegar method, like with wishbones? |
Gucci lost some teeth. She hasnt lost some but the new ones still came out. So when she gets spay the vet will pull those out. :( |
I can't even tell if Mocha has lost any.. I thought I felt one come out in my sock but i couldn't see it!! I will keep watching.. Do the adult teeth look different from the baby teeeth.. I am assuming they are bigger?? |
Maddie lost most of her small baby teeth within a few days time at about 5 months. I swear, she lost them one day and the new ones came in the next. She lost the big canine ones at about 6 months, so when she was spayed, didn't have to have any teeth pulled. Of all those teeth...I never found one! |
My little Peanut is almost 5 months old and he has lost all his bottom front teeth and most of the top front ones. It hasn't seemed to bother him too much, but his gums looks a little red when the teeth first fall out. One of the Yorkie books that I have says that they should begin losing their their puppy teeth around 4 months or so and are usually done by around 6 months. I just wish I had found some of Peanut's teeth for his scrapbook! FYI, the vet says that they often swallow their teeth when they lose them, so don't be concerned if you don't find any. Hope this helps! :animal-sm |
How funny! On my way home tonight, I was thinking about posting here to ask when baby teeth fall out! Once, again my Yorkie question is answered! Ya'll are super smart Yorkie owners! Thanks! |

I just rinsed them with hot water. Baby Teeth |
Jack had all of his adult teeth by 6 months. He didn't have any problems losing the baby ones, and I found about 4 of them. He probably swallowed and pooped out the rest. I had heard stories of having to have puppy teeth pulled because they wouldn't fall out, but luckily Jack lost his naturally. Funny thing, I found this site by asking the same question, Jack had a couple of double teeth and it scared me, but the YT guys pulled me through. YEAH YT>>> |
Duncan had a problem with his baby teeth they never fell out and he looked like a little shark with two rows of teeth till we had the vet take them out ! |
 I LOVE your scrapbook pages Sara! And that's probably a better idea - just take a picture of the teeth! You have my gears turning now. Very inspiring. :) |
Very cute scrapbook pages sara. Thanks everyone for the info on the teeth. I was wondering about when they will loose them. |
I figured it out. Whenever I find a Bodhi baby tooth in the carpet I put it in a little jar and spray Rhonda's " MAGIC potion " on the tooth. See http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...62&postcount=3 Let it set for a few hours and it really cleans the gunk off of them and makes them very white! |
a question about teeth..i was speaking with someone in the dog park and she stated that her yorkie didn't loose all of her teeth and had to have 5 pulled so her adult teeth would come in. How common is this...not loosing all of the baby teeth and at what point do you decide to take them to get pulled. How many teeth in total are in a yorkies mouth? SHould I be keeping count of all the ones she looses. She is only 15 weeks now, so i know this is in the future I just wanted to be prepared. Thank you. |

Hmmmm. I wonder if those are the really big teeth in the back. I was really looking forward to finding those. (We've found 8 so far!) And I have Banfield insurance, whose only surgeries seem to be neuters and spays. Guess I should be prepared with a good vet for possible teeth pulling *sigh*. |
Chip is 5 months and a few days- last night we noticed his bottom front were missing and this morning a couple of the tops-! |
