You know honestly.. 10 lbs is still small. I always look at wookie and thing, theres no way he's 8 lbs.. because he looks tiny to me. And Wook loves to play and run around, and you can play tug of war with him and goof off with him. It's great that you dont have to worry about him jumping off the couch and getting to roudy playing around. |
2 Attachment(s) here is my two. the big one is about 10 lbs. i'm showing the small one two that is 5 lbs because the 5 lb is the size i prefer. the bigger one was suppose to be about 4 lbs and I was wanting one no bigger than 5 or 6 lbs. As nobodys here but me and hubby. We're getting older and its so much easier to give the small one baths. she cant jump on the furniture, which we prefer they dont. But we love the 10 pounder too and I think she is pretty and I know she is a smarter dog than maggie to a degree. she is much more playful and loves to play fetch and anything else that makes her a good size and a good dog for children with all that energy like kids have. So I would actually sell her I think if it werent for my husband. Altho I love her dearly, she is actually lately getting to rough for the smaller one. They play together good but sometimes she does just hold maggie down and take things from her and bites her till maggie has gotten to where she runs and hides from kizzy lots of times. But she loves kizzy to peices. both of them love kids but maggie is the kind that wants to be held and loved. Kizzy loves for you to hold her and pet her but she also loves to play and catch things and chase things. Maggie is not gonna run and get anything and bring it to ya. Kizzy has gotten to be a little too rough with maggie to me. I would let her go before Maggie because Maggie is the kind of dog I was wanting in the first place. then sometimes i feel so guilty of feeling this way. sorry. but its only because shes gotten to be so rough playing with maggie in my opinion. I try to watch them pretty close in their playing and as long as kizzy dont just hold maggie down its ok with me. But kizzy does get in fussed at for doing it. she dont get hit but i fuss at her for it and tell her maggie is a baby and she can't play so rough with her and truly, kizzy acts like she understands that for a little while and will actually walk away from maggie then later lay down beside her , but I think she just gets too excited playing and forgets a little later and gets rough again. But ya know, I've found out lately their so much like kids, it seems to get better results to just talk to them like you would your kids and i swear kizzy seems to understand. see why I say she is a smart dog. she truly is. |
Thank you all for responding! You have all confirmed what I originally thought, that it was probably better to get a bigger dog. I've attached a picture of what the breeder has sent me. He's 10 weeks old right now. aww!!! I now just have to schedule a time to go see him this week. Who knows, by the end of this week, I may actually have a yorkie. (trying to not get too excited!) Okay, so I can't upload the picture, it's probably too big. If I go to see him this week, I'll take pictures then. Thank you again to everyone who responded! |
Love my Teapot My girl Daisy Mae is about 10-11 lbs. At first I was a little disappointed when she started going off the " standard" growth charts. I wanted a smaller dog..but she is just perfect. Like others have posted, great size, I am very pleased now that she is not a 5 pounder.LOL, she is very spunky, and just right! Love my Teapot ! |
The smaller one in my avatar is 8 lbs I love that size |
i agree/ Morgan weighs 8 lbs and he is just right |
All of your pups pictured are just adorable :animal-pa |
I dunno - Jack is 5.7 pounds (just had him to the vet) and though he is tiny, he is "solid." Izzy is almost 7 pounds and she is definitely more solid than Jack - she is longer than Jack (he is really tall) and built more stocky/sturdy - I would not be opposed to a larger Yorkie, but I love the sizes of my two. |
Looks just like my Daisy Mae ! coat and size ! Adorable. I am letting Daisy's hair grow out, does your babies coat seem like its easily tangled at that length? How old is your baby? |
Did you get the puppy? |

my 13 pounder 1 Attachment(s) He's laying next to my 5 pounder. Sonny the big guy, zooey my little girl. Yes much more careful with the little one. For jumping, climbing, falling, running, and health. My big boy, no problems at all. But love them both to death!!! |
My Ruffy will be 2 in July and he weighs in at a whopping 6lbs, Abbey who is 4 and a half months old weighs a whopping 6lbs as well but has not gained more than 200grams in the last month, but the vet is not concerned, she is healthy and playful :animal-pa :aimeeyork |
chester is 10 pounds and I love it, just more to love |
When I started looking at yorkies I hoped to find one in the 6-7lbs range. Yumi is 6lbs, but seems fairly thin I'm still hoping she fills out a bit more. Now I think 8-10lbs would be fine, maybe even better. I think 6lbs was bigger in my head. She's sooooo tiny I feel like she's going to hurt herself when she gets crazy playing, running around the house with a toy... I see her in my head, zooming trough the house and running face 1st into a wall or something and ending up seriously hurt... There are a lot of things I like about her size, but it's still scary lol. I think I'm mostly just paranoid lol |
