Matts, matts and more matts!! Help! Right now I'm having a multitude of problems with Howie's fur. All of the sudden one day there were matts everywhere! And bad ones! Especially on his back along his shoulder blades and neck. I think it's from the harness I've been using on him. Soo, here go my questions: What type of harness can I use that will matt his fur less? I've read some past posts on de-matting, but what are your opinions Cowboy Magic vs. Ice on Ice? Thanks in advance for your help! |
I have the same problem with Rebel. He has LOTS of fur and I've been finding mats on his belly and hind legs:confused: I bathed him Saturday and used a really good conditioner and still couldn't get the mats out. I ended up having to cut a few of them out. I bought ice on ice and tried it, but the mats were sooooo bad I couldn't get them out. |
When Jewels has matts I shampoo and conditioner her. I brush her hair through when the conditioner is on. Then I rinse and towel dry and put in cowboy magic and brush through again |
Hi, sorry about all the matts. I used to get bad matts on my girls when I'd put their clothes on. However, Since I started using the cowboy magic it has really helped. If you haven't tried this stuff already I seriously suggest it. Could always put a little extra in the troubled spots. I notice my girls get matts still (not nearly as bad) but they tend to come out alot easier. I no longer have to cut the hair off  Good Luck!! |

Actually I use both. I use cowboy magic when I am taking matts out. I use Ice on Ice as an everyday conditioning spray when I brush them |

I have the same problem. I'm going to try missing link to see if that works. |
Cowboy Magic is great for getting matts out. I use the Ice on Ice when I brush her. |
Cowboy Magic is great for the mats. And a bottle will last forever! One of the few products I will not be caught without! I was clipping the mats out of Venus before I ordered it, they were that bad. Now I can just comb through her hair once a night, no mats at all! |
OK, tonight I got out the ice on ice, the brushes, and the combs and went to work on Rebel. I misted him down and worked on one area at a time and guess what...... he's a cutie under all that hair! The mats came out and he looks really smooth and shiney. I was so impressed that I worked on Lucy too and she looks great. I had always brushed them dry, but I never will again! |
Thanks for the great replies! I'm going to order both Ice on Ice and Cowboy Magic. He NEEDS it. Last question - does a silk harness help with getting matts in that area? His harness now I'm 99% sure is what's causing most of this trouble. |
