Possible addition I've done searches and read some posts about getting another Yorkie. I have a great opportunity in buying another Yorkie. Daisy is 1.5 years old and I'm alittle nervous about it. I know they wont get along at first but eventually will. Its always so nice to read how the "additions" become the best of friends. Daisy's personality is awesome, will that change? Will she be mad at me? Daisy is my first ever Yorkie and I love her to pieces, shes great in everyway possible and wouldnt want that to change. I actually went to a friends house yesterday to go talk to her because she has two Shorkies (s**tzu/yorkie) well when i went there she had another addition a 4 month old lil girl. Daisy didnt want anything to do with her then started to warm up but did growl and show her teeth when the lil one kept trying to play her. Does anyone have any advice? Do you think she'll change? Will it be ok to leave the puppy in a crate all day while Daisy has free roam of the downstairs? Thanks!! |
 First of all I want to say that Yorkies are such social dogs and they do very well with other dogs. When we introduced our baby Yorkie to our Maltese who was 1 1/2 at the time, I was worried about them getting along and the Maltese going crazy and changing with the new addition in the house. He did nothing wierd except mark in the house a bit to let us know who was boss! There was a short period of adjustment but for the most part it was an easy transition. And of couse now they are best buddies. I did keep the puppy in an X-pen for a short time when we weren't at home more for her safety but eventually she too had he run of the house like her big brother. I don't think two dogs are any harder than one and in many ways I think it's easier because they keep each other company. As you may have read in an earlier thread, we are getting a third one in a few weeks. Thankfully she's 9-months old and not a baby puppy and she is coming from a breeder who presently has 8 dogs in the house. While I am a bit worried about the inital transition period, I think it will be wonderful to have another one. So go for it girl! Two is ALWAYS better than one!! Best of luck with your decision. :p |
Thanks! I would be getting her from someone on here. I was just worried about Daisy because being the only dog in the house she is beyoned spoiled. I figured now was the time do it vs. when she's older. I will keep all posted. :D |
I say the more the merrier :D I have a "few" ;) and they all get along awesomely. It always gives them someone to play with. I have 3 yorkies, 2 chis' , and a pug. I'd even love more! I have enough love for them all:p But seriously, it always takes a bit for a new addition and the older furkid to adjust, but in no time, in my house, they are happy and playing like they knew eachother forever! |
