Bobbi's teeth.......please help All you yorkie parents........please help answer my question if you can. Today, I noticed Bobbi has been a little blue (not his normal self). He also has been drooling alot. I finally 'pried' his mouth open and noticed that ALL his top row of teeth are super lose and ready to fall (gums are inflamed too). Is it normal for him to lose all his top row at once? I know he must be in pain too :( .........(forgive me for asking this)........should I speed the process and 'pull them out'?..........they are SUPER loose. Also, I THINK it's my fault. I brushed his teeth this morning and I might have irritated them more. (I am feeling so bad). Lastly, right under the loose teeth is an entire new row of teeth peeking out. Is this a double row or do they eventually move up where the baby teeth are? I know these questions are all going to be directed to my vet on Monday.......meanwhile can I get some insight from you all wonderful YTers? Thank you kindly in advance, Jess and Bobbi |
Baby didn't have any loose teeth, but a couple of months back I noticed that she was not acting herself. She kept swallowing and drooling as well. When I took her in the vet said the drooling, swallowing and sleeping all day was due to the inflamed gums. He also said all her baby teeth needed to be removed and adult teeth scaled and cleaned. He put her on antibiotics for two weeks before he did the cleaning. She is doing alot better now. It got so bad with her she was even eating less. She lost a pound during the month that her teeth were giving her problems. I am crossing my fingers that she will gain it back. I don't know about pulling the loose teeth. I know it is hard to see them like that. I took baby to an emergency vet that night I was so scared. The worse symptom was her not wanting to eat. Good luck to lil Bobbi |

I am going to take him to the 24hr vet and have him checked out. Thanks, Jess |
Great !! Don't feel bad for tearing. I was the same way when Baby was having teeth issues. He needs the antibiotics asap. It took her about 2 doses to feel better. Good luck sweetie!! They are like little skin kids!:) |
Phoebe's teeth bothered her when they were trying to fall out and I reached in and helped with a couple. She felt much better. deb |
Poor Bobbi (and poor Baby too) - I hope he feels better ...my vet said a 1/4 of a 1/4 of baby asprin is ok for yorkies w/teeth problems - Cheri had some pain with her baby teeth too - but check with the vet to make sure ... I hope he feels better girl & What a good mom you are |
I hope little Bobbi will feel better soon. I can only remember Toto drooling really badly when she cut her permanent teeth. Her little chest stayed soaked ... we kept a "drool cloth" in our hand all the time! I pray that all is well and Bobbi will be OK. |
