Neccasary Puppy Vaccinations What are the shots that are neccasary when vaccinating young puppies? |
I don't know but I need to know this too as my pups are six weeks now and are going in for shots this week. I already know...no lepto, corona, get a shot for Giardia I think and wait til rabies shot at 6 months. I need to know what to ask/tell the vet. |
i dont really know...Rex just got finished with his shots at 4 months. he used to go in every 3 weeks for shots..i think he got rabies and others |
Our dogs vaccinations were distemper/parvo group vaccine for 4 visits. Also 1 Bordella Vaccination (kennel cough) on the 3rd vist. Rabies at 16 weeks old. |
Internet info on vaccines Our member MoonValley would be a good one to PM with this question. It is a controversial area and if you research it on the internet a lot of homeopathic vets will show up with articles on how we are "over vaccinating our pets, how they develop allergies and their immune system is compromised by too much vaccination, etc." They say that a lot of the vaccines are just given because tht is how the vets make their money. Even rabies, which is required by law is controversail in areas where there are no recent cases of rabies. It is something everyone has to research for themselves and make up their own minds about. It is usually on the second and thrid rounds of boosters that you get the "bad reactions". I would ask several vets what they feel is NECESSARY for your area and what vaccines they give their own dogs.If you want websites, let me know and I will post some. |
vaccine My dogs get DHPP/corona 8-12-16 weeks..I think the guardia is good and bordatella also. Some may need Lyme also. Rabies at 4 to 6 months depending. |
