Do I have to monitor my first yorkie........... Ok as some may know I am getting a girl yorkie mid Feb. well I will have done started my job by then, so my question is when I get Blaire would it be safe just to leave Blaire the next day with Bailey in the playpen? I'll be gone for about 8 hours? What should I do?? I want them to get along..Could they possible not get along in the playpen together  I just don't want to come home to me asking Blaire what happen to your face and Bailey saying well she took my toy so I socked her one (get my drift) LOL ....Is it safe??? O yea by the way Bailey will be 5 months and Blaire will be around 3 months. :) |
i wouldnt leave them together untill they have been living toether for a while just to be on the safe side:) they are both young so odds are they will get on fine and play all day:) |

after a weekend you will prob see if they will get on, im sure they will be fine. if you want to leave it a bit longer than maybe you could leave one in the bathroom if your worried they will wee or chew. or put something inbetween the playpen to keep them apart untill your sure.:) |
I think getting her on the weekend so you can watch them interact is a great idea. They should be fine together since they are both so young. |
I think it is very important to introduce them on neutral territory first...maybe family or friends house....this way the older one gets to meet ure new pup without the territory feeling. It sometimes take time for them to co-exist. I had this delusion my now 6 mos old pup and my 8 yr old would become BFF (best friends forever) At first the oldest johnny wouldnt even talk to the puppy or even us! For a good month he ignored everyone and just hung out in a corner....and if the puppy touched one of his toys he wouldnt play with it anymore...same thing happened with his bed :-) It took a month for him to accept the puppy isnt leaving lol. Now they co-exist together...they arent BFF but i think everyday the puppy is growing on him. I made sure i gave the oldest special attention...when i came home i always greeted the oldest first....then the puppy.....also i would put the puppy in the bedroom for about 30 mins a day and only played with the older one. When feeding and dispensing treats the oldest always gets his first. HTH i was so upset at first when johnny was ignoring us, i even cryed...and boy did i feel silly!!! my hubby was laughing at me!! Good luck |
I think they'll be just fine and if they're not, you'll know it over the weekend:laugh: If they're playing and cuddling all weekend long, there ya go;) Luna was 3.5 months old when we got Izzy, who was about 6months old, and they got along from the first second. I think that when they're young like this, they adapt a lot more quickly than if your existing dog were to be say, older than a year or so. Just my limited experience:D |
Thank for the ideas you guys keep them coming!!! |
You could put a divider in their pen, like a baby gate or something. That's what I've been doing with Jaden when Jewelina is out. It takes time for them to get used to each other and since your not their to monitor them it'd be best if they have some "personal space" while your gone and plenty of time to get used to each other. |
My opinion is if your asking if you should you have doubts maybe. If you have a doubt good chance is your right. Play it safe and keep them seperated until you are positive that all will go well |
