Puppymill As most of you know our 3 month old puppy died this week. Now I'm horrified to realize that I think the place we got him from gets their dogs from puppy mills. Is there a way to find out for sure? Of course they told us they only deal with breeders, but now I'm not so sure. I don't want anyone to go through what we've gone through. How can I find out? Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
Try going to www.nopuppymills.com and ask the lady there if she will help you research it. Did you consider my suggestion about asking the breeder to give you another puppy from a future litter? |
That's heartbreaking for you...I had seen your post earlier and responded and felt so very bad for you .... I think it's pretty hard to find out - This is a really super helpful organization that will answer you if you email them - I also have posted on their forum....http://www.imom.org/ they may be able to help you...They were GREAT when my sons weiner doggie was sick and needed help... |
My heart goes out to you on the loss of your puppy..Sadly that is one of the problems with dealing with brokers. MOST do get their pups from puppy mills. That is how they make their money, buy cheap pups and sell them at a profit. I personally strongly believe that the safest way to get a puppy is to go to the YTCA website and look for a breeder in your area. They do have strict rules governing their members and you can be assured of either finding a reputable breeder in your area or finding one that knows of a breeder that has puppies. Good luck to you. As far as finding out about brokers /puppy mills I am just not sure if there is a foolproof way. |
A very similar thing happened to me...I am in the process of finding out and trying to get my pup's medical bills paid. I sent you a PM. |

Thanks for the support :) My biggest concern is getting my baby healthy. Also trying to get this puppymill shut down so that they can't cause animals or people who purchase them anymore pain. |
omg OMG how sad! |
