Gracie2006 | 01-05-2007 09:11 PM | You can try pushing his/her face away using the BACK of your hand and say "no" or "no bite". If he/she persists, you must make the bite a felony. First offense, you stop the play, walk away a few feet and ignore him/her with your back turned to him/her for 30 seconds. Then return to the play and give him/her something appropriate to bite. Second offense, repeat the ignore thing. Third offense, he/she goes into the ex-pen or crate, not as a punishment but as a time out. Make him/her stay in there for 15 minutes or so, then return to play or whatever. He/she has to learn that biting means you won't play with him/her, and not biting means you will play with him/her. I did this with Gracie and it worked really well. |
