collar vs other harness how many of you use neck collar for yokie wen u take them for walk? i am noticing that most of yt people are using chest or whatever it call like step harness, t-harness and so on.....dose the neck collar is having any disadvantage ??? |
Their tiny necks are so fragile, you're better off with a harness that will put the pressure on their chest instead of their neck. You wouldn't want your little one to pull and accidentally end up with a collapsed trachea because of it. Harnesses that don't put pressure on the neck are much safer. |
oh my god he all the time pull the leash, cause wen we are out he want to run so fast and for that he even pulls me off...... |

The silk step-in harnesses I make do not come anywhere near the delicate neck area and the silk is ever so gentle on the delicate hair. |

Connie makes my little Gracie's harnesses. They are GREAT. Her website is http://www.geocities.com/maddieakama...ose/index.html. They are $10.00 and she only charges $1.00 or $2.00 to ship them. |
Many small dogs have sensitive tracheas and it's advisable to walk only using a harness. I like the sound of the silk step-in harness and the price seems good too.I always had a soft collar on my Yorky with her id attached to it, but only walked her with a harness. |
I never use collars , always harness. |
I use Harness myself I am afriad I might hurt them. However most dog trainer say use a collar or show lead.. type leash.. I guess it is suppose to train them not to pull when walking and walk next to you.. I just couldn't do it they wear harness.. |
I use a harness as well (even though it causes havoc on his fur) for the trachea reason. I have a toy bin that's about the same size as Howie that I keep toys in and if I forget to tip it on its side for him to get into it he'll stick his neck over the side of it to get toys out. No fail, everytime he starts hacking from the slight pressure against his throat/neck. Because of this I'm convinced a collar would be badddd news for my little guy. I also don't even keep a collar on him for I.D. purposes for 3 reasons: 1. It mattes his fur 2. He chews the crap out of them and 3. I'm nervous it'll get caught on something when I'm not home and he'll choke himself. |
I use a harness as well I tried a collar once on Jackson, but he chewed it to bits and plus I was worried about his neck. I only use his harness now and wouldn't try a collar again. I agree that with the trachea issue, it isn't worth fooling around. I do wish his harness didn't mess up his fur, but I just don't keep it on him when we are inside to avoid that problem. Now that I've seen those adorable outfits Connie makes, I want that instead!! Gotta get him a vest! And the dresses are so darn cute, it makes me want a little sister for Jackson even more. :D |
i use a 'Buddy Belt" its a harness type thing, expensive but seems comfortable for my little one! |
