I agree with Itrox... I had to lay my 15 yr old Blk Lab down in April '06. I felt like dying. I came home from work and went straight to bed and cried everyday. I had been looking online for a few months (not really thinking it would actually happen) at several different breeds - I really liked the Yorkie, but hadn't seen one in person except for 8 yrs ago. It was only a couple of weeks after we put Lucky down that I decided (ignorantly) to stop at a pet store to see if they even had one to look at. Mind you I had looked on the net for a local breeder but only came up with one who had closed hers down to move to the Midwest. So I walked into PETLAND :thumbdown and saw this tiny little girl who immediately took my breath away. Of course I ended up walking out of there with her... There's more to the story but what I wanted to say is.... even though I was nuts about her - I started to see that she was going to be bigger than I thought and I found out that she was from a puppy mill (Hunte) not a "show quality" Yorkie - yes I thought because I paid more that I was getting better - NOT the case. I have no idea what I was thinking that day. I have never gone anywhere and walked in to make a sizable purchase without thinking it over and researching it! However, after going through several phases (which really didn't have anything to do with her - it was about me and my expectations!!) I am so nuts about her that I can't stop thinking about her at work! :p I can smell her fur, think of the silly things that she does that make me laugh, her tiny little bark and you know what? I wouldn't change her for the world! Oh btw - she was 1lb 10oz when I got her and almost lost her twice. She now weighs about 6lbs and still is soooo little to me - but she is truly our little girl! Give yourself some time. Bond with her. I think things will turn around. She is "adorable". Good Luck and Best Wishes! |
