Funny how the vets always find a cheaper way when you say you cant afford the more expensive:rolleyes: I'm glad he is doing better. And yes you are right the poor little Ella on another thread has a heart breaking story that may end tragically today:( My husband use to step on our kids(human kids & dogs) & walk into them all the time-I started acting like I didnt see him & would run my shoes down his leg or kick into his ankle evrytime he would step on something because he never paid attention to anything or anyone else. He learned after he suffered the rath of this momma. A bruised chin for a bruised chin. He better be glad he never broke there leg. Hope Merlott heals fast. Hugs

Max and I are sending our hugs and prayers for little Melot. Glad to hear that he's happy and running around. That Yorkie personality just never quits being a joy to watch!

I can really sympathize with you. Although Tia wasn't stepped on, she jumped off the couch before Christmas and broke her back leg. The put a pin in it. We are at 4 weeks now and hopefully, she will get her "cast" off on Friday. I'm not to sure where you live but I was told by the vet that Tia may have to get the metal removed. We live in a very cold climate and apparently the metal will really bother the dog. Big hugs to both of you and wishing a speedy recovery.

Oh no!!! We live in Chicago.. another surgery? I think that would about kill me :(

UPDATE!!!

We went to the vet today and Melot is healing well!! He has moved from a wrapped around the body cast, to a leg only cast!!

I am so sorry to hear about Melot, I am glad he seems to be recuperating well.
We had a black pomerainan that 5 years ago that broke his leg when he jumped out of my daughters arms onto the patio. I don't know who was crying louder my daughter or the dog :( He had a lime green cast on for about 7 weeks and learned to run very well on 3 legs.
The bounce back pretty quickly.
Melot is a cutie and I love his name :)

That's GREAT NEWS !!!!! Hoping things continue this way and before you know it he'll be back good as new

My daughter is an ELMO fan and that was her first word...So we have Melot

spelled like Merlot the wine but pronounced MEE-low...:D

:D WE have just left the vet and Melot is Castless!!!!

We have to practice for two weeks (on four instead of three) and do another x-ray after that!!

So thanks to all. I didn't realize how much I would care for something I didn't birth!! It feels almost like I did :)

THANKS EVERYONE!! I must go back to Africam now..There was an elephant:eek:

Im so glad he got his cast off and all is well, I was kind of worried when you posted that he was running around just like he always did with 4 legs. and I had always heard they was not to do that. So Im Happy hes going to be ok.
