She is 16 weeks and i no she is trying to get rid of her baby teeth and get her adult teeth but she is chewing up my kitchen cabnets as well as last night she chewed threw an electrical cord and it zapped her did that deter her heck no after i put it up because she ruined the cord she went back looking for it. I have her blocked in the kitchen because of her chewing cords. I no you are suppose to put them up but you just can't put them all up you have to have lights and we have adjustable beds because of illness so we can't put those cords up. I really hate having to lock her up in the kitchen all the time does anyhone have any suggestions. As far as the kitchen cabnets go i have sprayed everything on them that they sell at the pet stores and it doesn't seem to bother her. Please give me some suggestions as to what to do. Also she has more than her share of chew toys both hard and soft. |
Get her a bully stick, every time she heads towards something else give her the stick. Both of mine had a thing for cords (electrical, computer and phone) that is why at 2yrs and 1 1/2yrs that I still put them in their crate when we leave the house. We just don't want to take the chance of something happening to them. When they were small and going after cords we took cotton balls and Louisiana Hot sauce and painted the cords with it (you have to do this every couple of days). But mainly make sure she has something she really enjoys chewing on and mine really enjoy the bully sticks so they still spend a lot of time working on those. When they get small, it's time for a new one. |
Somene here recommended putting clear deoderant on everything she had been chewing on. It worked for mine, and she'd chewed everything from baseboards to a hole in my lenolium tile! My whole kitchen got the treatment, everything she'd been chewing on, and everything that was wood! Even that hole she started working on in the lenolium. It certainly worked for me, and all she did was go back to the spot and lick once....and leave! |
YES give her a bully stick my Peeka chews everything but since i got him some bully stick he only chews them they are wonderful!!!! Peeka never liked any toys or chew toys but he loves these i highly recomend them!!!!!! |
I heard alot of good things about Bully Sticks although Bailey loves to play with his toys he does get unto shoes, shoestrings, cords, ect. I will try the bully sticks :) |
The bully sticks knocked the baby teeth out of Pixie and Paris! I've got Chynna teething on Pixie Sticks now.. I am waiting for her teeth to start falling out!!! And I do the same!!! Crates! No matter how long I will be out.... 2 hours or twenty minutes... its in the crates they ALL go! Pixie and Paris are over a year old now and they still get crated. one cord and they are toast! They have zero interest in cords... but you just never know and why take chances??? I am able to run errands with a clear mind knowing that they are safe! Good chews and a crate will save your shoes, cords and most important, your nerves and possibly your pups life! |
I was just getting ready to ask this very same questions. My daughter's Yorkie mix goes around LOOKING for something to eat. We give her bones and so on and she wants nothing to do with them. She literally runs around with her nose to the ground looking for ANYTHING she can to eat. Doesn't matter how small or how big. I was sweeping and I turned around and she was trying to eat the hair and dust I had just swept up!!! It is really starting to get to me. This is all new to me as well. She is the only puppy we have ever had that has done this. Talk about frustrating!!! |
Have you tried giving her nylabones? My Chanel was a real little chewer, she ate my wooden furniture, and loved cords... She has nylabones in all shapes and sizes, and uses them daily... she loves them. |
