Eyes and ears? I've read that new puppies open their eyes around 10-14 days, but what about their ears? Anyone know? |
:) I think their ears are already open .... :)...just kidding !! Do you mean standing ? |
hehe no. Their ears are closed when they are born. When I say closed, I mean shut tight. You cant look into them. There's nothing to look into...the ear canal I mean. It's like they are sealed shut for now. |
I just pm a member of the forum , his girl have had puppies . He told me , the ears open between 10 to 15 days . |

My pups started opening their eyes at about 12 days and by day 15 they were all open. LOL about the ears!! I didn't know they were born shut either until I saw them. My pups are six weeks old today :) Chloe's ears have been standing up for the last few days and it looks funny cause all the other ears are floppy! Hers will probably flop again as I don't think they permanently stand up til around six months or so. |

I know all puppy's ears stand different - both my girls were 3-4 months and went up and down too....I used to think it was so cute - Chanel would wake up with one ear up one day - then the next day - it'd be down and the OTHER ear would be up ! |
My guess is they know her by scent.....but what do I know LOL!!! I'm gonna post some new pics today of my babies :) |

Thanks to everyone for all the responses. I was trying to find it myself by searching online but couln't find much. It seems they will open around the same time as the eyes do. That's cool. I cant wait for them to be able to see what the real world is like. This is so exciting!!!! |

Heather, it is SO fun! Watching them progress and learn and grow and recognize everything for the very first time is priceless! Are you going to keep one??? |
I want to keep them ALL lol. Obviously I can't do that. Im keeping the first born. I nursed him for a bit so I feel we already have a connection. The girl is going to my inlaws and the other boy is going to my parents. This way, they all have good homes and I can see them all the time. I've had people offer me a LOT of money for them but I could never do that. I feel like they are a part of me. No money is worth not being able to see them grow up. I dunno, that's just me. I could never be a breeder lol. Im to emotional about this stuff. Id never be able to sell them, let alone ship them off to someone across the US. That's just scary! |

I have a GREAT friend who is an avid animal lover. I was going to give her one of Angel's pups but she only had 3, and I already promised my family the pups. She would provide a great home for one of them. If you don't mind giving one from the goodness of your heart (and yes she would keep in contact with you, send pics, and even put him/her on cam for you to see) I can give you her info. She's a wonderful person. The first day we met in person, I was going in for surgery. She not only took time to help me, but she drove me to and from the surgeons office. She then stayed with me for a week, waiting on me hand and foot, cooking for me, helping me shower, and brushing my hair. She is very nurturing (sp). Since then we've been best friends. Again, if you want a loving, warm, friendly home (non smokers) for one of those sweet pups, I can give you her contact info.. |
