Rocco and Rosie are sick :( We are in Texas on vacation and they have been throwing up and vomiting for three days.We took them both to the vet yesterday and he said it was the stress of all the changes. Traveling, people, little ones, other dogs,I could go on and on. He checked them over and did a stool sample. All was fine with the stools. He also said they weren't dehydrated and gave them two different meds albon and some other med to help good bacteria growth. I was blown away at by the bill 45.50  I think I will move to snyder texas  The bill would have be atleast 180-200 in California. He charges 40-50 for teeth cleaning which I would love to have done while we are here, however he is booked. They both seem to be feeling better today ,no vomiting, but still runy stools. Not the way to get on your MIL good side, bringing two dogs to poop everywhere.:p We have had a good vacation so far,we surprised my MIL with a new sofa and loveseat, which she truly needed. The people in Texas are wonderful, such warm friendly people,so different in California I'll tell ya. And those wattaburgers are to die for,we don't have them back home.Opps I am getting way off subject here. Rocco and Rosie did really well traveling and Rosie usually always gets carsick did not one time on the way out here.:D Her and Rocco have become best buds and I have bonded with her so much in the last few weeks, she is here to stay!!!!! ;) I got a laptop for Christmas which i'm using now and can't quite get us to the keyboard,so sorry for all the errors.I tried to correct them all might have missed some. |
It sounds like you're having a great time inspite of the sickness. I hope the medication works fast and stops the problems. You did fine with your laptop. I have plugged a mouse into mine or you can use a wireless as I hate using that touch pad. |
thanks,I have a wireless mouse too.I just can't type on this keyboard. I keep leaving letters out. Also the fonts are so small. |
Glad to hear Rosie and Rocco are doing a little better....it's tough enough to be at your MIL's without worrying about the furbabies:D I know what you mean about Whataburger....I SOOOOOO miss Whataburger here in Washington. You should also make sure you eat some Mexican food, Chik Filay, and gosh, I could just go on and on about all the food I miss from Texas :D Have fun!!! And thank goodness the furbabies are on the mend!! |
Glad Rocco and Rosie are doing better. It could be the water were you are, it will give mine the runs. Whattaburgers are the best, in my younger days that was the place to eat after a night out, one of the few places that stays open 24/7. What part of Texas are you visiting, sound like you all are having a great time. |
Glad to hear that Rocco and Rosie are starting to feel better. Vacations can be very stresful for our wee little furkids....Sending hugs :ghug: |
Great Reading Your Post hi Debbie, So Glad To Hear All Is Going Better For Rocco And Rosie And I Am So Glad You Kept Rosie, I Just Knew In Time It Would All Be Perfect With Them. Keep In Touch. Patti And Baby Blessing |
Glad the babies are doing better. |
We are in Snyder Texas. We will be going up by Fort Worth to Bridgeport. I'm trying to get ahold of the vet Rocco through up blood this morning .Does anyone know if the sulfa med, albon can cause stomach bleeding,or probiocin? |
poor babies and poor you - during the holidays - I hope they're feeling better - can't help on the medicine but want to send get well wishes to Rocco and Rosie |
Poor babies - I have never had a rescued little one have problems with albon and I look at it as a miracle drug for the ones having problems. Here is a link on the other drug your vet prescribed: http://www.probios.com/pbpetprogram.pdf Water can really do a number of these little dogs so it is best when traveling to only use bottled water. Has anyone been giving new food/treats to your babies? Let's hope the vet can get to the bottom of this and make everyone feel better. |
no new food and treats.I have been giving bottled water and told my DH,he never listen(WHAT MAN DOES?) and when he was giving water he gave it out of the tap. |
Geez - Your little ones maybe just super sensitive but it is a good thing you are talking to a vet you never know. I did look up in my Veterinary Drug Handbook Albon to see what the adverse effects could be on a Sulfadimethoxine: Adverse effects: can precipitate in the urine (esp. w/high dosages for prolonged periods, acidic urine or highly concentrated urine). Dogs: keratoconjunctivitis sicca, bone marrow depression, hypersensitivity reactions (rashes, dermatitis), focal retinitis, fever, vomiting and nonseptic polyarthritis possible. This description would be the worse case senario and I believe the key is long term use. Again, Albon to me is a miracle drug that has helped so many of my rescues and I know most breeders live by this product also. This is the ingredients on Probios Pets suffer the stresses of everyday life which can lead to bad gas, diarrhea, vomitting, and chronic intestinal disorders. Probios? Treats are specially formulated for the overall wellness of your ?Best Friend?. Feeding Directions: 3 - 6 Treats Daily Ingredients: Barley Flour, Rice Flour, Potato Flakes, Glucosamine HCI,Chondroitan Sulfate, Dried Bacillus subtilis Fermentation Product, Dried Bacillus licheniformis Fermentation Product, Peanut Butter Flavoring, Sodium Alumino Silicate, and Preservatives. |
In the past albon has always worked really fast for Rocco's colitis, this time it isn't. The vet said that it is a miracle drug also. Thanks for your response. |
I only wish I could do more to make you and your little ones feel better. |
