georgys yorkies i just purchased 2 adorable little yorkies male and female named Derby and Minnie they're 3 months old . its amazing to me to see them so active! But my s**tzu Emma loves it. It's like having 3jack russels running around the house and destroying everything in sight! my question is does anyone know of a good diet to feed them in these formative years? |
Hi georgy and welcome to YT, congrats on ur new furbabies im sure u are going to have a blast with them! i have two puppies, one is 5 months and the other is 8,5 weeks, i feed them both royal canin puppy food and im happy with it, they have shiny coats and not greasy at all, there are many brands out there, maybe its best to stick to the same food as the breeder gave them for a while before switching over, puppies undergo a lot of stress when they leave the nest, most people and breeders will advice u to give them the same food until they have settled down in their new home ;) one last thing, i can assure u that the next best thing to owning a yorkie is owning TWO :D |
Welcome to YT. congrats on your two new babies! lucky you !can't wait to see photos! |
Welcome to YT!!! Yay for you having 2 yorkies! 2 puppies at that, you must have lots of love and patience! If you search on here there are quite a few threads regarding food that include ingredients and others experiences with different brands! Can't wait to see pictures! |
Welcome, welcome! My little guy was on Royal Canin.. but itching like mad! I switched him to Wysong Alergen- plus- Missing Link supplement. Also some linetone from PetsMart. Seems to be getting better. I have read that Royal Canin has WAY too much protein (32 %), and that puppies can have problems with that. |
Georgys Yorkies Thanks To Everyone For Making Me Feel So Welcome ! It's Just Past Midnight And Derby And Minnie Have Finally Gone To Bed. I Don't Have A Problem With The Dry Food Which Is Royal Canin, They Both Seem To Like It. But I'm Not Sure About The Wet Food, Is Cooked Chicken Or Extra Lean Hamburger Meat Alright .. Or Should I Give Tinned Food Instead. |
Congratulations on your expanded family. There are so many dogs foods on the market. Some dogs prefer one over the other. The best thing to do is offer them a premium blended dog food. It's a shame that we can get free sample of these food. Sure would cut down on what is already stored in the pantry. Maggie has settled down on Pro Plan Small Breed Puppy Dry Food and Ceasar Puppy for wet food. I leave her dry out all the time and she get 1/4th container of wet food per meal mixed with some dry. She is 11 weeks old and weighs 2lb14oz. |
I feed mine Science diet now because thats what the vet reccomended but I am switching to Royal Canin when its done. Welcome to Yorkitalk and good luck with your babies! |
