Sensitive Skin I have had Sadie for 23 days, and have given her two baths. The groomer told me she has sensitive skin. I have noticed she scratches alot, mostly in one area. I got a good look at it, and there are tiny pin head size black spots in about a 1/2 inch area of her skin. I called the vet's nurse this AM and he said it is not fleas, but prob. sensitive skin, and to use Neosporin on it. Has anyone else had this problem, and what do you think caused it? Thanks. Kate |
oh my gosh i have the exact same problem except it seems like coco has a rash like reddish spots instead of black. so i'm going to give him children's benadryl. 1ml per pound incase you want to try it too. |
Did the vet recommend Benadryl? I thought Benadryl was to help people sleep, or for allergies, so maybe this is why. Now you can tell that I don't know what I am talking about. Quote:

yes my vet recommended this for itching and dry skin. also he says that dogs have allergies too. they can have a reaction to alot of things. so i would give it a try and let me know how it helps. iv'e given coco children's benadryl before and it did help. just make sure that it's childrens benadryl. |
Yep, I can second that...Just last week Teddy had his shots and had a mild reaction and I wanted him comfortable so I called back to the vet and asked if I could give him baby aspirin but he said to instead give him children's benadryl. |
Thanks everyone. I love learning all this new stuff. Kate Quote:

skin Those brown spots can be bacterial..I use Chlorhexaderm shampoo from Foster/Smith catalog. It is the same shampoo, even the same bottle my vet sold me when a male had it on his belly area. |
Thanks so much Pat. What causes the bacteria? I will try to find that catalog, and also ask my vet if they carry this product. Kate Quote:
