Please help......What is wrong with her tail??? 2 Attachment(s) Ok there is this lady that lives in front of me and we talk on occasion in the driveways well before I got my yorkie she had bought home a dog she had gotten from (as she said) the most dirty and disgusting people........so after keep the dog for about 2-3 weeks, if that, she went and handed it over to the dog pound and might I add maybe it was BEST for the pup. Anyway, I get Bailey and she says thats the dog she always wanted and she wanted to get my breeders information (sadly to say I gave it to her but the lady didn't have anymore yorkies THANK GOD) so after having Bailey for about a month she get her another dog I think its a rat terrier (Oh yea and might I add its just her and her 4 or 5 year old little girl) she is the cutest little dog. I have witnessed her leave the dog in his crate OUTSIDE when sometimes it too COLD to have a dog outside the dog is about 8-10lbs and she told me that she don't let the dog run around too much in her house so the dog is in a CRATE MOST OF THE TIME :( and when she gets home from work she ties the dog to her truck and lets the dog just play in the dirt.......I guess I can say this is not the WORST dog owner but she is CLEARLY NOT A GOOD dog owner and as I was driving up to my home her little girl told me to come see so I went see and thats when me and the mom started talking and I looked down and saw the dogs tail  why is it like that??? She says that she is thinking about just giving it up (which I think is BEST!!!!) She also admits that she does not have time for the dog at all (poor little dog) and in the same sentence she said she really wants a YORKIE  I think she is just obessed with how they look and I know that if she would get a yorkie she would probably treat it the same way as she did this dog and the one before...I mean she is not physically harming the dog but just not giving it the attention the pup needs. She said she will continue and look for her yorkie and she will probably give the pup she has now away......DOES THIS LADY KNOW that she does not need a DOG at all POINT BLANK!! I would love to take this dog in my home but I am afraid to have the dog come in contact with Bailey because when I was over there and she tells me to go get Bailey I'm not UMM NO!!!!! well actually I say Bailey is sleeping  but anyway she wanted to know why her dog tail was like that anyone know why??? AND I think if that lady gives up this little dog and get another one and treat it the same which I'm sure she will I might just have to step in. |
Ouch -- wonder if it got shut in a door? Or mange? Not good, whatever it is. How frustrating to live next to someone like this -- just within the law so you can't turn her in but neglecting them just the same. |
Maybe he chews it out of boredom! |

it could be a flea problem - mange or he is chewing hot spots but that dog needs vet care asap - what a sick woman doing that to a dog. I hate to say call the ASPCA but they can take the dog if she surrenders it and they don't have to say who called on her .....that poor thing needs help and it sounds like he won't get it from her. You're so right - some people don't DESERVE dogs |
I thought it could be fleas that he is biting at but she says that she doesn't have fleas  (I wouldn't be certain or that) OHHHHHH and get this you know what she said when I told her to go and take the dog to the vet she said she know that the vet is going to charge her a fourtune  and my respond to that is WELL YOU SHOULD OF LEFT THE DOG AT THE POUND HE WOULD OF BEEN IN WHOLE LOT BETTER SHAPE!!!     and to tell ya the truth it would be that much probably around 50 bucks HOW COULD SHE SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT  So what she going to just let the dog just stay there like that??? I think she is just trying to wait it out until the dog goes for shots again and thats probably in about 2 weeks......POOR POOR DOG!! The more I talk about it the more it makes me want to go and take it.......I had told her when she leaves the dog in his crate outside or when she ties him to the truck someone is going to come and steal him and she going to say that they will be doing her a favor  MORE LIKE THE DOG A FAVOR!!! |
If he's suffering and it looks like he is - I'd call. I had to do that on a neighbor and if I posted the pictures I got of the dog you'd get sick...they're too graphic for this site....I hung off my fence and used my zoom lens to get photos of him and emailed them to the Houston Animal Cops. They were here in less than 24 hours. My neighbors excuse for the neglect was MONEY - yet they had just bought their kids a huge JungleJim - bigger than my whole backyard. It's not alawys the money ....it's about being LAZY AND UNCARING and it's just plain wrong to keep a dog and not give it medical attention. She doesn't deserve him & it sounds like he needs your voice .... He may end up in a much nicer home..... but if you do call - make sure they don't put him down if someone comes to get him. :( GOOD luck - It's so sad there are thousands more like him out there when it doesn't have to be like this :( |
If she got the dog from the pound, and you know which one, you can report her to them. They'll come out and take a look. Well, many do anyway. All they'll want is her name and address if you've got that. Then they can look her up in their adoption records. Just a thought. If she thinks that this would be too expensive to treat, she's got problems. Regardless, it NEEDS to be done. It's a shame that some people love their dogs too much to let them go when it's appropriate. Or that they don't love them enough to find a way to fix the situation. Poor kid. If he doesn't have patches like this anywhere else, because it's occuring from the middle up, it's likely to be him/her just chewing it for any number of reasons. |
If it was mange (mites) he would most likely have other areas where there was hair loss |

That poor little dog!! If she doesn't want her, ask if you can take her and see if your vet will take her. Even if you just get her treated and healthy again and find her a loving home, she would be much better off than where she is now! |
My first guess was mange too.. Next time you see the dog outside during cold weather, call animal control. I thing that is considered animal cruelty if the weather is too cold for such a small dog. I would also call your breeder and warn her about this neighbor so she won't sell her a pup from her next litter. Gosh - It's got to be tough to see this going on across the street and have to be neighborly. I have a BIL like that. In the 20+ years I've known him he must have bought and given away over 10 dogs because they were having various "behavioral" problems... um.... it's called neglect!!! I cringe each time he tells me he's thinking of getting another dog or that they got a new pup.. I feel your pain... |
O.k Lady's this hits a soft spot  How would she feel if her child lock her in a box outside in cold weather? How would she like being tied to a tree? It seem to me she wants it and then she don't, all are (dogs) want from us is LOVE,FOOD,WATER AND TO BE TAKING CARE OF. This is way to much for this lady she doesn't need ANY animals. I had a red headed parrot and when he was bored he would puck his feathers out.....I belive this is what the poor dog is doing chewing on his tail....Please get this poor dog some help. |
GOOD NEWS!!! My husband said its OK for me to go and get the puppy :D he has a good heart (hey thats why I married him) but this is the only thing IF SHE IS WILLING TO GIVE HER UP  Because like dragonfly said "It's like she DOES WANT HER BUT SHE DOESN'T basically want I will do is clean the pup up and just take it to the animal shelter the sooner the better because she is just prolonging the situation HOPE ALL GOES WELL  |
good luck Hun. I feel so bad just looking at the tail. Be careful . Just wondering how cold does it get down there? Can't be that bad. Not like NE and 10* or less some times. |
