We always go to my mothers house in Conroe its about a 6 1/2 hour drive. Last year we took Katy with us. She did fine, she loves to ride in the car and loves people and other dogs. Let me start by saying I love my family. My problem is (hopefully no one from my family reads this) it opened the door for all of my family to bring their dogs to my house for Thanksgiving. Katy is small and very well behaved. She takes a bath regularly, so being on the carpet and the furniture is not a problem. That is not the case for all of the visiting dogs. So, this year, Katy stayed at her day care, while we were away. Since, my family gets together a day or so before Christmas so that every one can make it to the family gathering. We were able to get home on Christmas eve, and pick Katy up to spend the night with her. It was win/win. She spent time with her friends from day who were boarding for the weekend (they even spent the night together) and we made the jouney to my mothers house. btw My Granddaugther was upset that she didn't get to go to Katys sleep over party. |
Jiggity, I'd have to agree with you. We love love love our dog to death and we would go to great lenghts for her. BUT, we also feel that we should have a life and enjoy our life as well. Yes, we leave her to attend weddings, dinners out, movies, spend time with friends but we take her where we can. I don't think that it is good for us (not anyone else) but us to avoid special occasions. It won't hurt her if she's home by herself for a few hours. I don't think her feelings will be hurt. But don't get me wrong, it doesn't mean we don't miss her like crazy when we're gone :) JR |
My 2 boyz went but my daughter has a big house, there are only 6 of us, and her dogs were outside. The boyz are very well behaved and mostly just sit on our lap or follow the cat around. We went to Oklahoma the week after Christmas and took them with us. We stayed in a Residence Inn and they accomodate pets. We left them in the room when we went to sister-in-laws house for a couple of hours, because she doesn't even let her own dog in the house. But the other sister-in-law has 2 dogs and loves our boyz so they went with us. There were lots of people and lots of chaos, so they just want to sit on our laps anyway. They love love love all the attention they get!!! |
I left mine home on Christmas because I had to work. But they got their prezzy's before I went to work and after work I went home (I am a Nurse and had to work 12 hrs on Dec 25 and 26 so after work my babies were glad I came home. My Husband went to his Sister's house and neither his family or mine (except me) are dog people so our babies stay home when we go to relatives. They just don't know what they are missing !!!! |
Mine stayed home with the hubby. I caught a plane to Arizona and my heart was on pins and needles for a week. I missed them so darned much!! |
