Would you be angry? So I just got my new bundle of puppy joy last month. My boyfriend got her for me as a gift. I have wanted a yorkie for over a year. My puppy doesnt seem to look like a lot of the puppies I have seen on this site. i sent pics of her to my mom to show how cute she is. There are a few things about her that have made me curious. Well first of all, her ears dont stand at all. She seems larger for her age than she should be. Her fur is cottony and wavy instead of silky and sleek. Today my mother sent me a picture of a puupy that looked just like Britain....I mean exact like it could be a clone. But that puppy want a Yorkie it was a yorkie poo. Now I have a paper from the breeder that says purebred and list the mother and father. So my question is in 2 parts. 1. how would you find out if your puppy is a yorkie poo (is there anything specific to look for)? and 2. If you found out that a breeder misrepresented and you paid for one and got another would it upset you? Ok I lied...one more question is that even legal for a breeder to do? Dont get me wrong i absolutely adore Britain. I dont care what she is. I am just curious on everyone elses feelings. |
welcome to YTalk... your baby looks just like my sami did! cotton wavy coat, and he is now 2 years old this dec 17th and his ears are still floppy. and he is 100% haha there are alot of different looking yorkies. but he sure is a cutie..:) and his ears can be taped alot of the members here will offer all kinds of help! I call my sami a teddybear yorkie because that is what he looks like to me.. alot of the other yorkies have long beautiful coats and just beautiful.. so I would say he looks 100% to me...:D |

Is your puppy from AKC registered parents, if so and if you're truely concerned, you can address your concerns to AKC and they'd probably suggest DNA be done on all 3. |

The strips will come off on their own....if ears stand up on their own, great, if not reapply new strips. |
Thanks I will try that on her ears. ( kind of like them floppy though ). And they are CKC not AKC.....So I am not sure what that means. |
She still looks pretty young and looks like she has lots of hair on her ears. Also alot of puppies when they are that young have what looks like a wavier, cottony coat but it may turn straight and silky as she gets older. Just shave and tape her ears until they stand. I dont know why breeders dont take a little effort and do this so the puppies dont have floppy ears. Sometimes it is hard to keep the tape on if there are alot of puppies and they keep yanking them off of each other. Good luck and your new baby is a cutie and looks like a yorkie to me. Barb |

I took Mardelin's advice and used the breathe-rite strips, also taped them, shaved them, and was extemely diligent about getting my litter's ears to stand up. The mom's ears are floppy, which I love, but I know that most people purchasing a puppy prefer their ears to stand. Out of five pups, one was impossible. I tried everything and nothing worked. Fortunately, my sister finally talked my BIL into a second pup (she already had the other male) and she really wanted a floppy eared one. Go figure! Point is, sometimes mother nature has other ideas. Best of luck to you. |
