Advice on recent rescue Just got a male rescue from a puppymill today. I have already found a home for him with a good friend of mine in Alabama who will have time and love and patience to take care of him. This Ass**** brought him into our vet's office last night and wanted them to put him down because they couldn't get him house trained! He has been horribly neglected and is probably 2 lbs or more underweight. He has very few teeth so we gave him some soft dog food and he ate like he was starving! I'm getting his dental work done on Wed. and one of our groomers is going to groom him in the morning. I've only had him about 2 hours. He is matted to the skin, so I'm sure she will have to shave him down. Poor little guy. He is not neutered and is "marking" everywhere. I'm going to try to get him neutered on Wed. too, but meanwhile, does anyone know how to get him to stop marking? He is going potty outside, but doesn't understand not to mark in the house. Any tips????? He is so cute. How can anyone treat a little helpless animal so badly. I put him in the big crate and he started pacing so I took him right out. He seems more comfortable in the smaller travel crate. I think the bigger crate may have reminded him of being at the puppy mill. Breaks my heart. He will have a great life with Jane in Alabama. I just have to get him down there from southern Illinois. All suggestions welcome!!!! BTW, Lexy loves him and Peanut is a little jealous!:D |
eensor...you're right down the road from me! How about using some belly bands for now? My boyz don't mark but they were both neutered when they were pretty young...if she has no intentions of breeding him maybe neutering will help. Good luck! |
OMG I was just thinking about you~ Yet another rescue for you :) Awesome! I would suggest belly bands too, just for now that would stop it! How wonderful you saved him and found him a great home!!!! YAYAYAYAYA |
Hawwie Ann! Tan you bewieve my mommy bwought home anudder Yorkie??? AND, he's a BOY!!! Humph! Wuv, Wexy:p The belly band is working so far! Yeah! I'm also taking him out on a short leash so that he doesn't "mark" outside either. I just want to break him of that habit altogether. He's sweet! How is everybody? I've been away so long! Merry Christmas!!!! |

Oh good! I'm glad the belly bands are working! And yes, you've been gone way too long! Don't let it happen again :) haha We just figured you were on the beach in Mexico, drinking margaritas, laughing at all of us in the North :) How are Lexy and Peanut? I miss their faces! |
Koodoos to you for the rescue! :D :D :D Don't you just hate to see these lil darlings neglected? It just burns my britches! Here's to him having a wonderful rest of his life and bringing lots of joy to his new home. Thanks for being his Christmas hero!   |
awesome that you were there for this little guy some people can be so heartless! BUT at least he was brought into the vet not left out on the side of a road somewhere. try puppywraps.com for bellybands |
Thanks everybody! He is not even trying to mark with the belly band on. I'm gonna order him some more from puppywraps! Thanks for that info! Our groomer had to shave him down to the skin. He was so matted that it all came off in one piece! She said he probably hasn't walked on the pads of his feet in years!  He looks like a little toothless Chihuahua right now, but he will have good hair when it grows out and he has proper nutrition. Betty, the groomer, took him in 2 days before Christmas and didn't charge us 1 cent to groom him! I stood there and cried like a complete fool! There are so many good people in this world. Thursday he goes for shots, neutering, and dental. I don't think he will be keeping any of the three teeth he has left. Anyone out there going from I-65 down to Birmingham, AL anytime soon? If not, I'll drive him down there after he recovers from neutering, teeth, etc. Love you all! E. |
Hey girl - you rock for saving him !! That poor baby - don't you just want to show that man who let him get like this you and your FIVE FRIENDS ??? (your fist) :p I know I'd have a hard time keeping quiet if I personally saw the person who did that to a dog - Bless that little guys heart and yours too - I hope he has a wonderful safe happy life - he deserves that and more for what he's been thru....People can really suck can't they ? then they can be awesome like your groomer.... Where have you been ?? It's been too long ! |
Since they changed the format on YT, it isn't "user-friendly" to me anymore! I don't really know how to get around the site very well like I used to. I'm computer challenged!:D We're still using the Plush Puppy products! I think about you, Villette, every time Peanut and Lexy get a bath! Thanks for turning me on to that! I just got some of the blowdry cream yesterday. I hope it works as well as the shampoo and the Seabreeze oil. Did you know you can mix water with the Seabreeze? I just found that out online last week. BTW, the dogtor's office won't tell me who brought Brady in! That's probably a REAL good thing! He is so sweet! The bellybands are working great except hubby forgot to take it off of him when he went outside to tee tee!:yelrotflm I now have it in the dryer after a good washing, and am ordering about three more right after I send this off to you! :xmastree: :xmastree: |
From someone who lives with the rescued puppy Hi, everyone. This little puppy is truly the most amazing doggie. Our family loves him so much! He is the sweetest, most loving dog you can find. He has been given lots of love, that is for sure. Not only by Jane, the owner, but also by my children. My sister-in-law takes him to the vet and has him cleaned and trimmed. We do all of the care for him, besides feeding, which Jane manages to do most of the time. The owner, Jane, is a 74 year-old disabled senior who isn't in the best of health. Unfortunately, she lies around in bed most of the day (besides dizziness and pain, she is morbidly obese) with her doors to her room shut and Brady sleeps in the bed nice and snuggly with her. He is not potty trained since Jane can not take him out and we all have full-time jobs. Jane allows him to potty in the kitchen floor when he has access to the kitchen and is unable to clean it up until I get home or someone brings her groceries. This was not and still is not an ideal situation for a pet, but considering where he has come from, he is better than before. I am looking for another home for Brady, for his own sake. We would love to keep him when Jane moves since we have fallen in love with the little guy (Elizabeth has convinced her to live on her own and that she is capable of driving with him in a car "yikes" despite being on pain pills and tranquilizers around the clock), but we have very close friends with pet allergies. It breaks my heart knowing what Brady has been through, but also knowing that his life could be much better with a loving family that is physically capable of caring for him in a responsible way, I would like to reach out the community, yet again, to see if there is someone who can help. This little guy certainly deserves the best family he can find. If you have any suggestions, please leave me a message. Thank you. |
