Errrrrr..........cannot Wait Much Longer!!! :D Ok I go finish Christmas shopping today and I went to 2 pet stores just to browse around and I see a YORKIE FOR SALE :aimeeyork its a BOY and they wanted 895 I believe and he was registered and I thought hard about swiping my CC and bring home Bailey a little brother. The worker said that the parents were 2 and 5 lbs but I have a question can you really believe what a worker says I mean she can practically say ANYTHING  I mean its a VERY NICE boutique but anyway size doesn't matter oh so I asked could I hold him and she said they don't allow anyone to hold him because he haven't had all his shots :( I'm sure that thats a pretty good reason but how are you going to buy a pup without holding them  and I couldn't really see how he really looked because he was in this little tan crate behind the counter because someone might be looking into buying him but she said if I really wanted him if the lady wasn't back in 30 mins he could be MINE but I didn't want to buy him because I couldn't REALLY see nothing but his little head....I wish the owner would changer her policy but I guess God knows if he would of been in my hand I would of been swiping the CC ;) OK THEN I go to Petsmart and when I was leaving I saw the CUTEST little girl Yorkie with a little pink collar so small and beautiful. I was going to get the paper and go look at a few breeders TODAY but I know since the holidays is practically here I knew that ALL the good ones would have been sold already but anyhoo I think I'm becoming obsessed LOL and now I think I have decieded to get a GIRL yorkie now :D But what are your thoughts on that little boutique's policy would you buy a pup that had that kind of policy and plus not seeing the parents??? |
I got Chewy from a pet store... he is the cutest little guy ever. But I would want to interact with a pup before I bought them... it will be a member of your faily for many years... You want to see the little guy or girl first! She could have taken the yourkie out and held it so you could see it at least. I think her rule makes some sense... Passing a young Yorkie around from person to person could be bad for the pup... but on the other hand she could have let you see the baby run around and play. Our pet store has a room where they disenfect the floor, you can go in and play with the pup and hold them as long as you sanitize your hands before you hold them. pet store dogs are not all sick or bad, but you really want to make sure they are healthy and vet checked right away... and there is always the risk of illness... You don't know the parents of the dog... |
Pet store dogs or puppies are not bad. It is not their fault that there are unscrupulous breeders that breed volumes and sell to pet stores for pet stores to resell for them as they don't want you on their property or to see the parents, how they are housed etc. they will have so many puppies there cannot be a delay in getting current ones off their premises, a pet store will do just fine, they get their money from the store and no responsibility. It is never the puppies fault. But you have a very high risk of getting a puppy that is or will be sick with little or no recourse. Papers can mean nothing as papers regardless of the registry are only as good as the info submitted by the breeder. If the breeder is selling through a third party and does not even care enough to know if their puppy is getting an appropriate home or take other responsibilities I would be hard pressed to trust any registration they may provide. Wait until January, find a reputable local breeder to buy your puppy from. I feel so sorry for those poor little ones in the pet stores and I have no idea how to put a stop to that cruelty of breeding and selling through pet stores or brokers. |

1 Attachment(s) good luck to you! I looked about FOREVER for a baby and ended up flying to Pittsburg to get my Hopey from a fellow YT'r, lksdolls! I found no one I could truly feel comfortable with in La. I am so so happy that I waited and got the right baby for me..... she is toooo cute! d |
Donna that has to be the cutest picture of Hopey I have seen!! She looks so sweet and innocent. As for the pet store's policy I agree with it. If they let everyone hold the puppy it could get sick. There is pet store here where you have to wash your hands before you can hold the puppy and I think that is a very good policy. It protects the pup from picking up any illnesses. |
there is a pet store near my home that sells "home bred" babies only and they require anti-germing before touching their babies.. I was there today and they have the CUTEST little Boston Terriers.... (no way) but I do agree with their policy, I wouldnt want a bunch of germy strangers touching my new baby... |
