Okay, my husband brought my pups up to my job today so that everyone could see how beautiful they were getting! Everyone oohh and aahhhed over them. There is one lady that works there that has a yorkie that she bought 3 years ago from a puppy mill and paid $600 for him...3 years ago.

Anyway, she's holding one of my babies and asks how much I'm asking for them. I told her, and while she's holding the baby, she says in a baby voice, "I'll give $600 for you but you aren't worth much more than that!" Highly offended, I took my pup and left.

Well, during lunch time, I went to the back to use the restroom. She is in the lunch room and asks me, "Do you HONESTLY THINK you can get that much for them?" I responded, "I have not doubt! I'm going to advertise in Houston and Corpus Christi. People in this town are just too cheap!" I turned around and left!!

Anyway, just wanted to vent. I got the last say and that's what I wanted anyway. :mad:

It means, don't waste your time explaining or arguing with somone of her caliber! You know what your puppies are worth and want them to go to the best possible homes. Obviously she is ignorant and isn't worth lossing your temper over! Consider the source and just smile! :)

I can tell you that here in Brampton Ontario, female yorkie pups, without papers sell for $3,220.00 (tax incl) in the pet stores. That would be $2547.67 USD

Female Yorkies are usually about $1000 here in Northern CA. $600 would be a great deal. I got my Summer for that much, but only because I already know the breeder. I'm sure your babies are well worth every single penny you're asking for them!

If she bought a puppy from a puppy mill she saved the money because it's her puppy's parents that paid the price. :(

I'm in Houston and I can tell you right now - you can ask more and will get it - I had a very hard time finding a puppy because they go QUICK here...For a big city it isn't that easy to find yorkies - I WISH I could get another one cause I'd be first in line here.. I'd love to see a picture of your babies !!

$600???

I've been searching for nearly a year and have yet to come across a quality pure bred yorkie that costs $600. I'm driving 5 hours and paying far more than that for my puppy and I think I'm getting a pretty good deal (and the puppy will be worth every cent!) Average price is at least a couple hundred dollars more than that!! But what does she know?! If she's getting dogs from a puppy mill, she obviously isn't the most knowledgeable source for dogs!

I would love to see photos of the pups!!

That lady clearly doesn't know what she is talking about. $600 is more than a fair price (I paid 3 times that for Tucker!). If she knew anything about Yorkies she would know that they worth much more than that! Plus - she has a yorkie?? Yorkie owners should know that they're priceless!!

Her response should have been "They are priceless, however, I only have $600.00" She does not deserve the privilage of ever having a precious yorkie baby!!!!!!

We paid $500 for Maddie and feel like we stole her. the only reason she was that cheap is her breeders believe she'll get to be 7 pounds or maybe more. We jumped at her and picked her up the day after we closed on our house (not the most opportune time to get a new puppy) because we were saving so much money.

The cheapest we saw any Yorkie puppies was $750 and that was going to require a 10 hour drive or a $200 shipping (no way I could bring myself to ship a puppy :( ). On average we were seeing New England breeders selling pups anywhere from $800-$2000. If you wanted a teacup it was more.

Someone who would buy from a puppy mill would not understand the value of a well bred puppy.

I am planning on advertising in Houston. They will be two weeks old tomorrow and absolutely sweet!!!

How rude!! I would of had a hard time not slappin' that lady! And like CentralNewYorki said, what does she know... she got her puppy from a puppy mill!! I'm sorry she was so rude to you, some people really have no deciency... ya know? I am sure your puppies are beautiful, and $600 isn't a bad price at all!! That's A LOT cheaper than most of the breeders in my area!
