Omg, Who do you blame for this tragedy?
 

A coworkers mom has 2 yorkies, the 1 1/2 old male (3lbs) got a hold of the 10mth old female (3 1/2 lbs) & she had puppies. She had 2 girls/2 boys, the vet told them it was to soon to mate & 1 male died early. Coworkers put deposits on the remaining puppies selling for $650 on up. As the puppies got older the mom put dad in one cage, and the mom/puppies in a cage so they can ride in the van w/her. She lived alone & had no one to watch them. She drove the puppies up so the co-workers could choose and see the parents. She did offer them to come to her house but since she was out, they were able to come to the van & choose.
Well, after picking up her grandkids (ages 9 & 13) she stopped at the pet store. The 9yr old didn't want to go in & stayed in the van. When they came out, the van had a peculiar odor. The granmom looked in the cage and the puppies were lying still and gasping. It was visible something was going on with the adults because of their slugness. :confused: She took them home & checked them out & they seemed ok for a hour or so. She then decided to take them to the vet and the vet said they were poisened. The adults were ok, but 1male/1female wasn't going to make it & put to sleep. :( The last female was being watched because she showed signs of recovery. The 9yr old was questioned and said they pooped in the cage and she didn't like the smell. She looked around for some air freshner, then sprayed directly into the cages. The vet wanted to see the airfreshner can, which turned out to be shoe spray. It was the type of spray used to coat leather/suede from dirt & snow. :mad:
I was hurt and appalled, one of my co-workers cried. The other was upset but understood, the other coworker was told to give the last little girl a chance. She refused to take her saying she may have problems later down the line. The lady wanted to hold their deposits until the female was old enough to breed again. The vet said the last puppy may have brain damage and put her to sleep to. The grandmother was so upset at the grandaughter, but whose responsible here? There was a big argument because she felt she lost a lot of money taking care of shots, etc. Her and the daughter fell out because the grandaughter was accused of killing her puppies. Her daughter asked her why would you leave her in the car? :thumbdown I was like WTh?

It is the grandmas fault for leaving the dogs and the children in the car by them selves. I would never leave dogs in the car by themselves and i wouldnt leave children in the car by themselves. Its a tragedy that could have been prevented

We all thought it was the grannys fault but we didn't want to say that to our coworker. She was already at odds with family members over what happened. She couldn't believe her mom couldn't see her fault in all of this. Granny felt the grandaughter should've known better not to touch anything. The mom felt granny should have made her go in the store. She said her daughter had been crying because granmom makes her feel bad about it.:thumbdown

The owner of the puppies should not hold a 9 year old responsible. It was a horrible accident.

The money should be returned, and since she hadn't planned on breeding anyway she really isn't out any money except for the vet bills. But that is the risk of breeding. S*** happens.

The grand daughter no doubt feels horrible anyway. And No amount of money is worth breaking up a family over.

The only one who can make it all right again is the one who started the argument in the first place. the Grandmother. She is putting a price on her love for her grand daughter. And that is the tragedy, not the loss of the dogs.

OMG how sad!!! It seriously is the grandma's fault for leaving them unattended but the girl is 9 she knows the difference between right and wrong! It sounds like the girl has some issues as well i mean really a 9 yr old sprayed them with air freshener that was a shoe protector like she couldn't read the label sounds fishy to me!

GOOD GRIEF they're argueing about money ?? The so called breeder doesn't want to return deposits ???

The daughter who decided to breed a 10 month old female needs to be smacked - and the one who left them in the car is also at fault

those poor poor dogs. When people make the decision to breed and something that tragic happens - she needs to bite it and return peoples money. That's plain wrong of her to even think about keeping it.

what a totally tragic thing to happen to those poor dogs. That woman needs to SPAY THAT POOR Female:( :( :( :( and never put her thru this again... besides she's too small poor girl.

^5, I didn't want to go there with my coworker about her 9yr old knowing the difference. People can be sensitive about their kids, I agree she should've known better. We were told the can had pictures of shoes on it. I think to the gran treated the pups better than the kids just from past conversations.

When my coworker told me her mom was purchasing a female, I asked was it for breeding. She said no, then months later ($$) it changed to yes, I then questioned out of concern about the age and size. She told us it was an accident, he got a hold of her, says they didn't know she was pregnant till the nipples developed.

Kodak...I didn't mean to sound as strong as I did ... if you're close to your co-worker then sorry - but it's so hard reading things like this.

Some people just should not be breeding. That girl is too small and way too young ...but for them to not return peoples money is just as wrong. The kids aren't to blame although I would have thought at that age they'd know better - they're not at fault.

But it sounds like your co-worker needs to learn a whole lot more about being responsible for the lives she brought into the world.

OMG! No they should have never been left in the car but at 9 years old you know right from wrong...if you have been brought up properly!

How awful. Definately grandmas fault, but if I was the kids mom I would definately question the child on why she would do that, make sure she knew that it caused there death & possibly punish her. Yes she's a child but she has turn learn, she cant just think it is grandmas fault & she could do it again if a stupid adult felt she was responsible enough to sit in the car for 15minutes. What if it would have been her baby sister/brother. This may be a wakening that this child has some issues that need addressed. I hope they can work thru it, learn a lesson & forgive -its so close to xmas to. Very sad:(

It is totally the grandmothers fault! Not only should she have not left the child in the van, she should not have had them out, and she should have taken precautions to where they should not have even mated yet! I feel so sorry for the daughter and grandaughter, poor thing, for one accidents happen, and sometimes accidents happen in death but this one really could have been prevented!

This story makes me so mad...how irresponsible are people?!:mad:
First of all it is illegal to leave a child under 12 alone in the car.
Second of all being a former teacher, something is wrong with a 9 year old (and her mother) taking no responsibility for her actions. A nine year old does know the difference between right and wrong at this point!
If my child had done something like that I would be devastated, and would take her in for some counseling to deal with this.
The grandmother needs to take blame also and give the money back to the buyers. If she already spent it, she needs to let the buyers know and to work out a payment plan with them.
What was she thinking driving around with the dogs anyhow? Especially at this time of the year and with dog theft going on?:mad:

I think I mixed up who bred the little yorkie - and sorry about that !! so it goes ALL on grandma....but the worst thing is what those poor dogs went thru - shoe spray is HORRIBLE...they must have suffered terribly.....poor babies.
