Keeping dirty washable pads, Where? I was wondering for those of you that use washable pads, where do you keep the dirty ones till you have a load of them? Do I need to get a container with a lid? What will keep the smell down? I tried doing a search on this every which way I could but only found one thread. It said she kept them in the garage.. I don't have a garage:eek: I don't want my home to smell like dirty pee pads, lol. Since I smoke, I can't smell it, but I'm sure visitors can. If you have something that works for this, please share what you use with me! I need something as inexpensive as possible too. |
why not try a diaper pail for human babies. I think they have a thing in them that you can place a you can put a deoderizer |
We place our dirty ones on the patio until we get enough to make a load of laundry.....but even then we usually wash a load of the pads once or twice a week if they are getting alot of use. If you place them in the garage then the garage would smell......so we keep them out in the open air! |
I was going to suggest somewhere outside too - obviously not near the front door! |
pads I put them in a plastic bin with lid..and spray with fabric freshener when I open it...I was mine every 3 days adn hang them outside to dry.. |
I use a plastic garbabe pail I bought a plastic wastepaper container on sale for $5.99 at Shoprite. It has a swinging lid. I have to wash everyday because I have two boys. We use PoochPads for Mature Dogs (New Product). They hold more peepee. I have to use two at time because Spencer loves to drink. I hose it out on the deck with liquid soap and spray Lysol about once a week. No problems with any odor. |
I don't have any yet, but I plan to get some. I will throw them in the washer and run them through a short cycle to rinse them. Then leave them soaking in water till I throw the next one in and repeat this untill I wash them. |
I would get a diaper pail |
Great ideas here! Thanks so much. I'm new to washable pads, as I've been buying disposable ones since I've had Venus. Any more suggestions? |
I wash them daily... if its 2 pads.. then its a small load... If I wait with the 2 pads and not wash them right away.. I place them in the laundry room folded.. pee side inward..lol.. and once I have 4 I wash then.. I do wash them daily,,,,, this way there always clean... Works well for us this way...I have 6 furkids.. so my pads get used ALL the time,, :) |
On average we'll use one pad a day (Charlie doesn't use them, only Lilly does).... Each morning we rinse out the pad from the day before (usually in the utility sink on the basement) and hang it over the edge of the sink. By the next morning it's dried out so I throw it into a laundry basket and then rinse out the new one..... Rinsing 'em out thoroughly really cuts down on the smell.... Once we have a short stack of 'em we throw them in the washer ('bout once a week or so). |
I just throw them in the wash when I cheange them and wash them right away. I put down 3 at a time. |
