adding a new to the family I was hopeing I could get these questions answered by those of you who have more than one yorkie in your family. I am getting another female that is the same age as Penny and I have lots of questions about how to introduce them, will Penny be jealous, will she be agressive, will she be mad at me? I just need some reinforcement that this is gonna be ok, my hubby and I are concerned about Penny and just want her to be happy. Any ideas you have, or any experiences you can share would be so helpfull to us.:D :D :D :D |
most likely, the answer is yes to the first two questions. they will both be jealous and they will probably fight some to see who wins to be boss. yet they will not hurt each other. Or this is how it was with my dogs. kizzy at first just looked a maggie a lot. she would bring her toys and she would lay by her bed. then they started fighting over toys. they both always want the same one even if there is 100 just alike. just like 2 little kids. plus they'll both want attention. right now, if maggie sees kizzy in our lap, she will come up and kinda growl then kinda cry. hubby usually is the one that holds them. i'm not great on holding dogs. But kizzy is big and jumps up in his lap when she wants and poor maggie isnt big enough so she just rares up on his chair and kinds growls to get his attn then he picks her up and holds them both. I think most dogs do well with another. It gives them someone to play with and also if the first one is potty trained it seems to help teach the other one or it did maggie. when kizzy wants out Ive always put them both out and they go out and play and if I call them to come in , they both usually come flying in the back door. I cant tell you what others have experienced but I can tell you, i'm glad I have 2. they love each other to peices yet their jealous and they do fight but its not to hurt each other. its their way of playing and they play hard and rough most of the time. you'll end up loving them both I bet. there is 4 months difference in mine and about 7 lbs different. youngest is smallest one. But ive always told kizzy, dont hurt her, she is just a baby. she acts like she understands. |
