Do your yorkies do this? Do any of your yorkies suddenly start running back and forth really fast out of nowhere? OR chase you trying to bite your pants? OR get something they're not supposed to and run away from you and have you running back and forth after them? lol Teddy does all of the above. Sometimes I think something has gotten into him. But it's fun! And he gives me plenty of exercise! |
Yes and Kodak wears me out with that, and he'll have the nerve to know how to hustle you. That's where he plays like you can take the ball from him, but he holds it down with that weak azz paw. :animal36 He thinks his paw is the size of a Shepards. lol, Then he snatches it up and speeds off like road runner. |
The "zoomies" is what alot of people call that type of behavior. It's very useful to teach a "get your toy" command to use at such times. That way, they can channel that excess energy into something a little more positive! |
LOL.... wow that's what I did, I say 'Go get chicken' or 'where is chicken' and he runs to his basket and gets his toy. Any toy, I don't even know why I say 'chicken', he seems to like the sound of it much better than 'toy' LMAO |
Grayson get's those bursts all the time, but what kills me is when he has something he shouldn't and comes to me and opens his mouth so I can see it and then takes off. He is actually running back and forth right now! Silly doggie!! |
:p Toto does that too when she want us to play with her! She gets especially happy when I turn on the vacuum .... like it's fun! Yeah, Toto, it's fun!! :( She will grab a toy and bring it and run until her little tongue is hanging out. ;) |
Yes,Ellie does this too.:) We say she's having a mad half hour. The other two dogs look at her gone out, like whats up with her?The collie sometimes tries to chase her but Ellie is far too fast and nimble for her to catch.Very funny to watch,Especialy when the collie doesnt know which way to go and ends up in a heap on the floor.Looking at Ellies little face I'm sure she's laughing too.:D |
Folding clothes is Ben's favorite. He will dash in and steal a sock and off he goes! If I don't come after him right away he runs back and forth in from of me to tease me into chasing him. It has become a standard game. He will dance along beside me when he sees I am carrying clothes. IT is my fault as we gave him a sock with a knot in the middle for a toy -- that has evidently made all socks fair game. ;) |
YES! Abbie gets "the zoomies" every night. She'll loll about most of the day, then late at night, start tearing through the house like she's hyped up on something! |
yes, lexi does that out of the blue... you can be sitting down watching tv, all of a sudden she running as fast as she can throughout the house back and forth,, you just got to laugh, its so funny... |
Yes, both Hootie and Hobbs do all of the above!!!! They will get food out of their food bowl and throw it around, lunge at it, run in circles around it...they will also get ahold of my pants legs or slippers (while I'm wearing them) and literally attack them. It's quite amusing to say the least. |
yes...both of mine do every night about the same time. kirby always jumps up and grabs my shirt and pull it down. he is CRAZY |
Glad to hear that other Yorkies have the same behavior. :) Rudy does this, especially at night time. Like last night after we left him out for the last time, he came in the house racing thru the living room behind furniture and then just layed on the sofa. He also tends to want to nip at our pants near our ankles. But then we tell him No and he stops but of course he has to have the last word by barking after that. Take Care, everyone. Bengi gets all crazy all of the sudden. He runs back and forth like he wants to play, so I go after him like I want to catch him, he runs under the table, then runs fast to the bedroom, under the bed, when I get there he goes back to the living room and runs around the sofa, and then the race starts again, it's so much fun!!!!! |
Yes, Yes and Yes! He holds things hostage for a treat. And I also have a laundry thief. The bad thing is that he is so darn cute that I laugh at him and of course this eggs him on. |
YES! Totally does all that. I find it out though, sometimes it's as if they're on speed or something. Mischevious lil' ones. It makes me laugh and that is probably why they say those with pets live longer right? |
My two do all of the above also. Lucy will run like crazy down the hall with Rebel right behind her barking his little head off. When I look at them and ask if they want to go out, both sets of ears perk up and they take off for the back door with Lucy turning circles. When they get there, Rebel stands on his back legs with the front ones on Lucy's back until I get the door open then takes off across the porch barking after her. They seem to run around the house like crazy about the same time every night. It's like that last little burst for the night. |

Rocky will do his laps around the house every now and then. It's like he just gets a burst of energy, or maybe he's trying out for a track team that he hasn't told me about. I think it's hilarious:D |
It's good to hear Teddy's not the only one. All your furbabies sound so fun. That's what I like about Teddy he always keeps me moving. It's also mostly at night that he goes crazy and he also steals my laundry like socks and my BRA's! I always take it away then he goes and gets another one from my drawer, like he's doing right now. lol Then when he has something he'll drop it infront of me or show it to me on purpose so that I will chase him and he is very good at not getting caught. Of course sometimes I act like I can't catch him just for fun. It boosts his confidence. lol |
Yep "zoomies" or "turbo-ing"......my guys do that too. It was so annoying last night! They destroyed a whole roll of wrapping paper with their exhuberance. I was wrapping on the floor and they both came tearing through and started "bickering" right in my lap. It was cute actually.:D |
Emma does this too-my chi did this as well. Our vet called it "FRAP" or "FRAPing"-which stands for Frantic Random Active Period. Most healthy dogs do this when they need fast exercise, or when they're happy and they get a burst of energy! Let's all be glad we have frapping yorkies rather than frapping Great Danes! Can you imagine that in one house!??! |

I'm always finding my clothes in Rocky's bed! After I shower I put my clothes I'm going to wear on my bed, and Rocky always thinks I'm putting my socks out for him to play with! |
