My Yorkie doesn't like to eat from cold dish Has anyone ever heard of a dog food dish that will stay warm? Bobo doesn't like to eat from his dish if the dish is cold. Any Ideas? Am I just nuts looking for a warm food dish for my sweetie? |
Oh wow! I think my Teddy is doing the same thing right now. When I leave the food out at my boyfriend's house, and he has the heater on, he'll eat right from it. But when I leave food out at my mom's house, he won't eat from it. But he will eat the food if I put it on the floor. Very strange dog. I figured I would get him plastic cups to feed him with. Plastic stays warmer right? Ashley |
I haven't heard of a dish that will stay warm. But I go through this with Jaxon every day. We actually microwave his canned food for 10 seconds before giving it to him. He won't eat it otherwise!! I can thank my mom for this - she always heats the food for her Maltese and when we went to visit for a week, she did the same for Jaxon. Little guy got used to it and we had to keep it up. |
dont laugh i heat lexi's food every morning and night |
Yes I also heat Bobos food, it usually comes from the fridge and is cold so I heat it for about 8 seconds and he is a very slow eater after a little while he won't eat it if the food or plate is cold even though he may still be hungry, so sometimes I reheat it just a little and he will finish. My family thinks I am nuts. We are going on vacation at Xmas and I have someone staying here to pet sit. I am going to leave detailed instructions but am so worried that things won't be exactly as Bobo and Fonzie (my Ragamuffin) are used to, I am saying a lot of prayers that everything will be good while I am gone. I think I may try plastic like someone suggested. Tammy |
I was wondering if they made those kind of dishes for babies? If they do, try one of those. Sorry for my ignorance, I never had skin babies! |

I won't laugh if you won't!! I heat their food also...but, I have to wash Sadie's dish after every meal...she won't eat if there is even a crumb from her lunch...funny little furbabies! |
Okay Bobo gets a clean dish every time. |
My one dog has always been reluctant to eat very cold food even though he has good teeth. I've wondered if his teeth aren't cold-sensitive. I usually feed my dogs food that is room temperature - and because this is what they have usually get - I get no complaints. But - if I take some foods out of the refrigerator - and it's really cold - I might put it in the microwave for a few seconds (especially for my one dog). My dog's eating habits are bad enough - (my fault) -- there is no way I am going to start heating all their food. *** I found out how spoiled dogs can get one day. I had some hamburger that needed to be cooked....so I made a meatloaf for my dogs. I just mixed it with some bread and an egg.... and baked it. They smelled it and wouldn't touch it. I had to put some ketsup on it - add a little salt and pepper - and warm it for them. Then they gulped it down. This is a good example of my spoiling my dogs as far as food goes!!!!!! (I don't make a habit of doing this.... anymore!) Carol Jean |
Toto always has to have a warm meal .... it consists of 1 t. Force [dehydrated food] which has been rehydrated w/2 T. warm water, 1 t. minced chicken breast [I keep it cooked and frozen to use as needed], 1 t. Lesseur tiny english peas and about 2 T. chicken broth. I boil a whole chicken for the broth which I strain twice [or until it looks kinda like lemonaide]. I keep the broth frozen in small quantities also. After her Force is rehydrated [about 20-30 min.] I add the other ingredients and microwave it for 10 sec., 1/2 power and it's perfect and the little diva licks her little bowl clean! :) BTW ... her little bowls are glass salsa bowls and she always has to have a clean one so I use about 6 clean ones per day, even for her cottage cheese snack!! She is so funny ... always sniffs around before she starts eating and I always have to put paper towels under her bowl because she will pick out stuff that she doesn't like and place it on the towel!! Now, THIS ladies, is spoiled!!! ;) |
