I Don't Know What To Do Help!! I was petting Peeka tonight i found lots of little scabbed cuts he has been egging on my 2 cats the last few days and they have womped him really good but he doesn't seem to learn his lesson and now i feel bad because they are really letting him have it! He gets right on them i know he is just playing and he doesn't hurt them but i don't know what to do to make sure they don't hurt him? they generally leave him alone but he has been barking profusely at them wanting to play! Someone help give me some advice. Also i want him to sleep with me but my cats sleep with me also and i'm worried that they would get into it when i fall asleep. |
I really don't have much help just wanted to say I know how you feel I have the ultimate cat chasers....But I will tell you that the dogs will not let the cats near the bed at night...Lexie is really protective of the bed for some reason... |
well right now he sleeps in his kennel on a table next to my bed and sometimes if i'm just relaxing i let him lay with me but once he wakes up and see's the cats he's barking at them i know he just wants to play but my cats are honoree farts lol |
anyone else??? |
I wish I had better advice....... I don't think he should be allowed to "pounce" the cats, but how to stop him??? Rexy wants to chase cats so when we are out with the harness and leash on, when he starts to chase a cat, I correct him by pulling on the leash, bending down and saying "no" firmly. He is learning, but he still wants to and I know if he were off leash that he would chase after them. I bet someone who knows about training will come on and help you. Keep bumping this up during the day and I'm sure you will get some good answers. |
We have 7 cats (Yeah, I know.... But I used to do rescue and no one wanted these babies... So choices were limited) Anyway Keifer turned 6 months yesterday and chasing the cats is one of his favorite past times. His favorite is our big guy Xander (Almost 9) they will play for hours. Sometimes Keifer gets too rough and Xander lets him have it. I let it happen, I hope eventually Keifer will learn to respect the cats. I just be sure to keep the cats claws short so no real damage is done. (I worry most about the eyes) Always have areas the cats can exit to~ Tabletops and counters clear, a gated area the cats can jump into etc. If Keifer gets too nuts he reponds to my Ceasar Milan noise. In fact so does my daughters boxer.... Ever try to simmer down one of those guys? Just keep an eye on them, clip claws and develop something the pupper will respond to. A noise, a loud NO, a squirt gun, whatever works for you. But if they are to live in the same house they do have to learn to get along. Let the cats discipline him.... They'll work out something. Eventually! |
