Keeping My Teacup Yorkie Cute? 1 Attachment(s) We are the proud owners of 8 week old little SweePee. My question is, after reading allot of threads, how can we keep her looking like a pup in terms of her hair legnth as she gets older? We love her and want her to stay the way she is forever. Tips? Suggestions? Thanks |
she is cute! Just maintain a puppy cut when getting her groomed. |
What a cutie. And welcome to YT. |

Welcome to YT :D She is definitely a cutie alright ;) |
Welcome to YT...Your furbaby is a doll... |
She's adorable! Welcome to YT! I would just take her to a groomer as her coat grows more and have them give her a puppy cut.:) |
Welcome to YT!! The baby is cute!! |
Oh - she will change!!!! Get ready. But, like someone said - a puppycut will keep her looking younger - and besides, you'll love her as she grows and changes anyway.... Carol Jean |

What a doll baby she is. They do change over time as everyone mentioned. Colors vary but their personality remains all puppy. But by that time she will be forever in your heart and you won't care. Enjoy her and good luck. Carol & Buddy:aimeeyork |
Yup - yorkies STAY Cute that's for sure - and one reason so many dogs are in shelters is because dogs grow out of that 'cute' stage. Which is really sad for them. |
I think the yorkie puppy look is cute but I like the adult look even better |
I'm a big fan of puppy cuts! But it's also interesting to watch their hair grow, and how it changes their look. The good news is, there is no "right" and "wrong". Check out the "My Yorkie" section of this site, and you will see every length of hair from very short to very long! You'll know what suits your dog best as she grows and changes. A lot of it is lifestyle, too....how often you have time to brush her; how active she is outside; whether you can afford to have her groomed often, or can groom her yourself....etc. All animals change and lose their sweet "baby" looks, however, since yorkies are such small dogs, I think they do retain so much of their puppy looks and personalities! They really are our babies for life! :) |
she is adorable :) |
1 Attachment(s) I suggest you let her grow up and see how her coat changes. You might love her look with the long yorkie hair. If you don't a simple hair cut will do the trick. Personally, I like my Debbie with long hair. She's still small at three pounds. Congratulations on your new puppy. |
Hello and welcome to YT! Her hair will change, even if you keep it short, it will get thinner, Puppies have a thick fur that looks like a teddy bear, but as they get older, it will get more fine and more silky, you just have to except the changes. I like the hair long, yes it's more work, but a YORKIE is work! Hope you have read up on this breed, they take alot of extra care! Good luck and you came to the right place to get answers! Congratulations on your beautiful little girl! |
Part of the charm of the yorkie breed is the drastic change they go through, yet they still remain cute and puppy looking. A short scrappy hair cut will keep her looking young, but I love the long flowing coats too. |
Your baby is a cutie! I would keep her in a puppy cut, they look so cute like that! They look like forever puppies |
what a sweet face, I dont' blame you! I agree with message above, there's a cute phase and a 'beautiful' phase, when they become adults with longer hair. I sure miss the puppy look though. |

Puppy cuts make them look younger and are much easier to maintain. Just remember that her colors will continue to change but the look is easily achieved. |
Adorable!! Welcome to YT!!! |
