Buying a Yorkie - - Need help

Hello~
This is my first post here. I currently do not own a yorkie. . .yet. I have always loved them and would love to have one. And at the same time do not make near enough money to spend hundreds or thousands on one. During my search. . .I have recently come upon 2 possibilities close to my price range and that are local enough for me to drive to.
First is in a town very close to me. They have a smal little boy 3 1/2 weeks. But he has a weak knee problem. She will be taking him to the vet shortly and will be asking about the long term care for him and let me know.
Second is an older female. 8 years old and her breeder has retired her from breeding puppies. He is sending me a photo in a few days.
I'm at loss here.

I would hesitate to purchase a pup with health problems simply because he was in my price range. I know it's hard not to "rescue" one, but vet expenses are not cheap, even for a healthy pup. On the older dog, I guess you'd really have to interview the breeder in depth to see if this dog was raised as a "member of the family." I don't mean she's coming from a puppy mill, but some breeders don't treat their dogs like the pampered pets you read about on yorkie talk and she may come with habits that are difficult to break due to her age. Personally, while I'd consider a dog vs a puppy, I find one that was younger than 8 years old. Perhaps one of the more experienced yorkie talkers can provide more advice than I can.

I would keep searching also. You will find one in your price range. Its better to have one that is healthy and you are not starting out with health problems.

Oh yea. . .I am still looking and just found one on petfinder.com that wasn't there just yesterday. I'm waiting for a return call on him. So we'll see!! :thumbs_up
