Just wondering... How often can you breed a yorkie... I've heard many mixed answers and was just wondering for future reference. My Doodle is far too young but maybe some day hehe. |
I'm curious to, I will never breed, but I'm wondering when and how often do they give the females a break. I had a friend whose husband bred their rottweiler all the time. Then he wanted to get rid of her after he stressed her out.:( Yorkies are so tiny, I wonder how many times before they retire? |
I couldn't imagine putting a little Yorkie through that repetedly! I couldn't imagine it period...that's why breeding will NEVER be for me! I am interested too, breeders, how many times does a bitch produce a litter before you retire her? |
I do not breed either and, never plan on it...I am going to leave that to the professionals! But, I would think you would breed every other heat...every heat, to me, would seem too much...this is JMO though. |
Most breed 2- break 1...:) |

With Gracie, I bred her twice and rested her once. I think that for her, however, I'm just going to breed her every other heat cycle from now on. Her most recent litter is 3 weeks old today and while I have changed Gracie's diet up completely and have her on multi-vitamins, she's doing much better than her past litters. But for her sake and for the sake of not running her down, every other heat. A good breeder must do what is best for the dog. |
