Nutri cal help PLEASE HELP!!! Hi all, I got a new Yorkie as an early christmas gift 3 months old...2.14 pounds... and I need help ASAP!!! I don't really know much about Nutri-Cal .. I got it htough... It says it's high calorie dietary supplement for dogs and cats...Is this the right stuff? They didn't have any Puppy Nutri Cal... How much do I give and how often...Please hepl!!! |
Just squirt out a pea sized amount of it and give 3 times a day. Is your yorkie having low blood sugar problems? If not you really dont need to give it since your pup is over 2 lbs |
Put some on your finger and just let him lick it off - I never really had to use mine much - only when they were really small - but you can give it to them a few times a day if he needs the extra supplement ....but at 3 months and 2 lbs he may not even need it - is he acting ok ?? and congratulations to you on your new puppy ! EDITED - lol...chachi - didn't see your response and didn;'t mean to repeat you |
thanks...she is playing with chewy like crazy so yeah she is fine right now... Oh my gosh I hope having two is a good thing!!!! |
If a puppy is healthy and eat well , I don't give him or her Nutrical . |
She just got here and she is eatting!:D |
When I brought Lillie home she was 8 wks old...I also bought some nutra cal...The only time I would use it is if her and, big sister Sadie, would run around like maniacs! Lillie was only 1.6 lbs when I got her and where she would play so hard and run like she was on fire!!! I would give her just a tiny bit...just incase...didn't want her to have an attack..once she got a little bigger I stopped...Lillie is also a very good eater. |
NutriCal Quote:
Only give a teeny tiny bit on the end of a spoon ... they love it. |
I gave it to Tinkerbell as a baby, she was so tiny even though she was a good eater just to supplement her, just in case:D Good stuff:thumbup: !!! |
nutrical can be an enemy as much as it can be your friend! If your puppy is at a good weight DONT USE IT, if he/she is of slight weight and a non eater still use it sparingly!! Always with things like this less is more! never use it as a constant dietary suppliment your puppy will eat less and that is NOT what you want! |
Oh, having 2 is a great thing! I added Venus this year, and really wished I'd done this 4 years ago. Adonis loves her! If she's eating and drinking, you don't need neutra cal. |

3 months and almost 3 lbs (2 lbs 14 oz?) is a great weight, I think, to bring a new puppy home. If she's playing and eating well and appears spunky and energetic, I'd wait with NutriCal. maybe you won't need it? It's different when you bring a teeny tiny baby that's 8 weeks or so and they don't eat and are lethargic. |
SAd news... When my hubby got home he talked with me and he REALLY didn't want this puppy....:( I talked him into it and I knew it. He works very hard for his money and I\'m just heart broken but I took the pup back this morning and feel like absolute crap. She is a very spunky lovable baby and I know some ne else will get her... But I have learned a lession in repsecting my husbands wishes... He would have dealt with the pup but I know it was going to be very exspesive and I couldn\'t live with myself. I don\'t work except one day a week... I might make $50.00 if that. i couldn\'t do it to my husband and now we all feel bad! Thank God for our baby Chewy...I love him so much!:( |
I\'m sorry. |
