Is this a different name for a parti?? I've never seen a yorkie this color, she's cute! The price is not. :thumbdown

She's adorable but even if I had that kind of money, I'd never spend that much on a yorkie!

No, not the same -- partis are white, brown and black. A chocolate is another off-standard anomaly that some are trying to specifically breed for. I love the chocolate puppies -- they are beautiful -- but no way would I pay $5000 for one.

The YTCA says that chocolates should not be promoted as rare nor should they be bred. They can be AKC registered but not shown. Some think color is one of the standards that can be ignored. I am not sure about that.

Nor would I! And, this is why non-standard pups will continue to be held up as somehow "better". SOMEbody will pay it, resulting in more non-standard pups to be sold at outrageous prices. Whomever spends this kind of money would need to get a guard dog for their dog!

I agree...she is adorable but rare?? and that PRICE!! :eek: This is how they sucker people in that don't know much about the breed standard..using terms like rare and teacup (and jacking up the price) make people think they are getting something special...ALL yorkies are special!

Did you all click on the website under the dogs picture? i believe this "Wendy" is a member here. Not sure tho. Her page seems very familiar. She has a picture of one saying it is her first 'teacup' and weighs 4-1/2 lbs. if that is a "teacup' then all mine are except silk, She also sells maltese and mixes.

I can see why the parti and chocolate (and others) can sell for more.

Again - it just the old "standards" thing. Some people feel that any deviation away from the standard shouldn't be worth more.

But the truth is - that some of the deviations are absolutely beautiful - and they are "different" and they are "rare." So - a lot of people will gladly pay more for them. I see nothing wrong with this.

And let's remember, $500 - $1000 - $2000 is a fortune for most people - whereas $5000 is just pocket change for others.

Who knows - if I won a million dollar lottery - I might just buy that little dog or some other ridiculously priced little dog just like it.

(My only criteria for buying anything is --- "I love it - I want it - and I can afford it!!!!") The only problem is that I can't afford a lot of the things that I love and want...... darn!

PS: The end result -- she will either sell this little guy for $5000 or she won't, and she'll have to lower her price --right! That's life!!!
