OK, I haven't frequented this store; but, having read everyone's raves about it, I just had to go check out all the neat doggie things!

But, I don't recall in allllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the threads we've had here, reading that Target sells food! :2omg: Thus, we were asked to leave today, when we took Abigail shopping :cry8:.

The one that I go to in Miami does not sell food, however there is one nearby my office that does its called SuperTarget.
I'm sooo sorry that you were asked to leave... how rude...:thumbdown

That is the only bad thing about target. Our Target has a big sign that says "NO DOGS" :thumbdown. I usually just buy the things I like and if it doesn't fit, I take it back.

ooops ! they do sell food - ours does - I think they call it a super target. Same with walmart and stores like that - the law doesn't allow pets but I think there are a few who sneak them into the stores in carriers anyway :)

Was she in a carrier, or you had her in the cart? The store managers say that their customers may be allergic to dogs. At least that's what Walgreens manager told me. One manager told me it's unfair to be able to bring my dog in, but the guy with the big German Shepard can't. Target does have really cut pet clothes.

I had LillyBelle in her purse in Target, not totally covered. Just her head out looking around...We were just shopping around - and the manager tracked me down...and wasnt pleasant-he told me I had to take my dog out!
I told him I WAS BLIND (as I was looking he straight in the eye) I think it confused him for a second and he was NOT AMUSED..I said okay, walked away, to the register, paid for my things (I was finished getting what came for anyway) and left....that was several months ago and I havent been back...love target, but he just didnt need to be RUDE...I didnt really think about Target not allowing little **tiny precious doggies in purses!** - who are, by the way-probably cleaner and WAY LESS DESTRUCTIVE than my precious sons were as small boys running around in Target.

Ha ha like me!!! I was able to sneak Nico into Walmart the other night. He was in his bag and I told him...if you bark you will get us thrown out! He was so quiet! It was fun! hehehehe:D

Yep, we were kicked out of Target once.. The only time I was brave enough to even try to take her into a store besides a pet store. Still love Target though!!!!

Hi Everyone :)Well, no she wasn't in a carrier - we just carried her.Yes, this is true. However, one could ask: "What about those of us who are allergic to cologne, and have to shop with other people who bathe in it before leaving the house"? Sorry, but it's a real situation for chemically sensitive people - as much as those who might be allergic to cats or dogs. If I report someone who gives me a headache because of their cologne/perfume...you think store managers will oust him/her?I do know it's against the health code to take an animal where food is sold; but, like I said, we had no idea this one did have a grocery dept. We would have appreciated a clear "NO DOGS" sign, actually.

The whole thing didn't bother me nearly as much as it did hubby :eek:. Actually, the young lady who finally approached me was very cordial about asking me to take the pooch outside. I say, "finally", because Mike had carried Abbie all over the store...passing SEVERAL employees, who never said a peep about the dog. Sooooooo....we thought it was OK. Then, he went to get printer paper, and I stayed up near the front w/Abbie. When I was asked to leave, I told "Jennifer" that my hubby would be looking for me, and would she please let him know I'd be outside. She said "of course". Well, it was pretty cold here, today; but, I wasn't wearing a coat. Had one for Abbie, though! lol I walked around in front of Target for about 20 minutes (I'd guess), when I finally went back in to customer service to ask them to page him (cause my teeth were about to chatter). Come to find out, he had just paged me! He'd been looking for me, where we'd parted. He wanted to know what was up, and when I told him, he just got livid. I told him it was my fault for

a)not wearing a coat

b)not bringing my purse w/car keys

c)not asking them to page him in the first place

But, he wouldn't rest until he marched back in and told the manager he didn't appreciate his wife being evicted when she was not dressed for the weather, and "Jennifer" didn't even wait around to let him know I'd gone outside.

Oh, while I was outside (walking to keep warm), a young lady started to go inside, when she stopped and asked "Oh, did they say we can't take them in?" She had a lovely little maltese in her backpack. I told her "no", I'd just been inside; so she decided better of trying to sneak in her pooch. So, I'm guessing this must happen a lot, with more people wanting to shop with their dogs. A good reason for stores to state clearly their Dogs / NO Dogs policy, don't you think?

Anyway, this was my day - just wanted to share it with my "Yorkie" fam. One reason I wanted a toy-sized companion was to be able to take her places. <shrug>

I was asked to leave the garden section of walmart once while carrying Buckeye. I wasn't even going in the store. the man approached me before I even got in. he said you can't bring your dog in here. I said fine...i will buy my flowers some where else.

Ahhhh...no fair that you and Abbie got kicked out of Target! I would rather have dogs in the stores than sick people coughing and spreading their germs for everyone to breathe in.

I sneak Maddie into Target in her carrier and once when we were in line at the check out, she barked! I got rather shook and the other people in lines and cashiers were all saying, "Was that a dog?" "Is there a dog in here?" etc. LOL They never did figure out Maddie was in her carrier on my shoulder!

Hmm.. weird. I've been taking Bella everywhere, in her carrier. If I am some where that's got a lot of employees around, I just close the carrier, otherwise, her little head is poking out. Haven't gone grocery shopping or anything, but.. you know. And most of the time, when employees pass, they stop and say how cute she is. LOL
I haven't been kicked out yet, but.. I'm sure it will come. :D

Connie, what kind of carrier do you have? I've been looking and comparing on line till I'm seeing carriers in my sleep, practically. Looks like if I plan to take Abbie anywhere, I'll have to get an 'undercover' carrier.

I would also like to know where to buy a small carrier. The ones I see are too big and I have Ginger in one which is too big also. I had to pad it in the back with sheets and towels while we train her.

shhhhhhhhh, i bring morgan into target all the time in her carrier and they never notice. EXCEPT for tuesday night LOL i forgot to zip up the side pocket and morgan had her head sticking out. Well a very no so nice employee came up to me and said 'you can't have THAT in here'. i looked around me like what hte hell is she talking about, not thinking "THAT" meant morgan. Then she pointed at her and shook her finger and said 'you and THAT DOG need to leave now'. I told her that she was extremely rude to me and that me and THAT DOG are not leaving until we are finished buying what we came her to get because there was no sign on the door that said i couldn't bring her in. And then i told her that if she continued to harass me i would find her manager and file a complaint against her. she left me alone after that.

A good target defense is:

They sell dog clothes, and you would like to see if they fit your doggie.

Plus Target have been real A***** about returns.
So if they tell you that you can buy it then return it... yeah right, they have gotten so strict on that.. I hate target for their stupid return policy..

I tried to return something someone had gotten me for wookie because it was the wrong size and they didn't carry the same item (i didn't have my receipt). They said I could only do 2 returns in one year with no receipt. And I had to return it for something in the same department. :thumbdown

omg! thats a ton of money.
Im so glad i didnt spend tons of money for the one i got wookie.. he hates it.

As I'm reading this I am smiling at the thought of ME carrying my 13 lb. Daisy into a store in a bag. She won't keep her big head inside a bag and there would be no way anyone would miss her big head sticking out.

As much as I love her just the way she is, sometimes I wish she were small so I could sneak her in places too.
