Questions for washable Pee Pad users ! Ok, I bought a couple to try and got them yesterday. Replaced Tia's Wee-Wee pads with them and she used them ! YAY! So my question is......she tends to pee in the same spot, over and over.... These are FOR SURE water proof, right??? (Where she likes to pee is where there is carpet, so I put them over carpet) Also, how long can I leave them down before I should wash them??? Man....I am for sure going to order more! OH! Another question....when you buy the used ones....they aren't like full of gross germs or anything are they? That kinda of freaked me out thinking of whats been on them before I get them! |
I bought some pretty sturdy wee-wee pads ($27 each) from the breeder. Bearing in mind JoJo (at 4 pounds) is a big water dog and urinator, here was my experience: They are not completely water proof. There were times when it went through as they became more saturated. I was using two pads in two locations and washing them both 1-2 times a day. Also, if they go near the end, it is more apt to leak through. With my experience I would not put them directly on carpet, but maybe place a plastic tablecloth (dollar store) or something underneath to test it out. You may have a very neat doggie who doesn't go to close to the edge and doesn't urinate a lot. It may work fine for you. I was frustrated with the wee-wee pads, felt like I was doing laundry all the time and wiping up footprints. I switched to an indoor potty system called the Wizdog and it has worked much better for us, but we all have to evaluate our own situation! Good luck! |
Thanks! How does wizdog work???? I think I will need to put something under them....now I'm worried! |
I use the pooch pads for my two dogs. Between the two of them, obviously their is a lot of peein' goin on, but they always last the whole day. I have several pads, so at the end of the day, I remove the soiled ones and replace with fresh while the others are being washed. I find these pads absorb odors really well so they don't get stinky. The surface also seems to dry pretty quickly too, so they aren't walking through wet pee everytime they go on them. I haven't found that they leak at all - maybe it depends on brand, or the amount of urine on the pad? I'm not sure, haven't run into that yet. Ruthie and Oscar would sometimes play with the disposable pads I used to use - they don't even bother with the washable pads now. :) I wouldn't feel comfortable buying used pads myself... not sure why, cause I'm sure they're clean. But still... |
I get mine from www.piddlepads.com Definately water proof. Great prices and economically easier on the pocket book than the throw away. |

You can check out the wizdog at www.wizdog.com Also, if you do a search you can find other opinions in this forum on it as well. I have been very pleased with it but not everyone liked it as much as me. |

I have never heard of used pee pads?! I would just wash them with a little bleach...that should kill anything. |

I also use the pads from piddlepad.com. They are wonderful! I have several different sizes for different locations in the house. I ordered some the huge ones (30' x 36') for my kitchen because that's the main place my two usually go but I also have one in my bedroom. I put 2 down in my kitchen (in different spots) and the 1 in my bedroom. My Maltese is a real wizzer and tends to go a lot. Muffin has little silver dollar size pees but Biscuit the Maltese has to 'trump' Muffin's pees every time she goes. Talk about a pissing contest..... But I never have to change the pads more than once each day. I have quite a collection of these pads so I only have to wash them like every 3 days or so. The soiled ones go out in the garage in a bag until I wash them. I've never had problems with leakage. These pads are thick and so, so sturdy. They will last through hundreds of washing. I was them with laundry soap and add a little Oxy Clean for good measure. |
