aiys.... my dog has been de-barked.... hmmm she was debarked when i got her...n u're right.. it's actually a sad thing to us.. we wont know what they want... they will be so quiet.... :( |
I think they have too many dogs and should get rid of some. The dogs are probably kept in cages and ignored and that is why they bark. |
That's cruel, how would she like it if someone took her voice away, BOO:mad: :thumbdown |
A debarked dog can still bark, it is just not as loud , they sounds like they have lost there voice. I had a shelty that was debarked and he still let us know what he needed and his barking was still annoying but only to us our neighbors couldn't hear him. They can still be shown as they do not remove the voicebox, they cut the vocal cords. I would rather have my dog debarked then have to get rid of it. The breeder may not have too many dogs maybe the neighbors just complain alot. Being debarked is done by a vet and is not abuse, there are much worse things that could be happening to the dogs |

I think the practice is cruel:thumbdown There are other options, like training to discourage the negative behavior. |

I don't really like the whole idea of debarking a dog. (Hello! It's a DOG....you didn't know they barked before you got them? ) If my dogs bark its for a reason and I want them to be able to do so.:) |
OMG that is horrible! |
I think this practice is wrong. I have low opinions of people who do this. What good is it...it only benefits them, not the dogs. Itsrox has a good point, what if the dog needs someone because he's hurt, but can't bark, or the bark isn't loud enough? |
I think that is unnecessary. Our girls only talk when they play and when they need to tell us something such as a stranger at the door or a smoke alarm has sounded (no kidding, they do this when I test the smoke alarms). Since they have such small throats, I would not risk surgery for something that foolish. |
my stupid neighbor wants me to to debark my chihuahua...PSSHH YEAH RIGHT in his dreams. |

she doesnt breed them. two are champion show dogs who still travel to do shows. while she is gone, her two sons take care of the other dogs. she is a wonderful person who loves her dogs. they all live inside her home. she is there alone. i was inside her home when i went walking and saw one by the fence. she let me in to see them. very nice home. dogs are spoiled rotten. they have everything. they still do bark but not as loud as as normal. from what i know, a lot (most?) show dogs are debarked. i am neither for it or against it. i don't know enough to judge people who have done it. |
